Recruit Lists v2.0

You're just setting yourself up for disappointment if you expect Monte to come back for his senior year. I'd be shocked if he were here. Hell, Prohm himself has even hinted at it.

No you aren't. He's good, but he isn't NBA good yet. Outside of a large jump in his game this year, he'll be back.

He couldn't even make the PanAm games team. What makes you think someone of his size would be a first round pick? Because of his assist/TO ratio? The NBA drafts for potential. They like size, athletic ability, and playmaking/scoring. There's a reason he wasn't a 5* recruit. It was known he was a great player in HS and won Mr. Michigan beating out a few higher ranked players. He's limited. See Georges Niang, great college basketball player... Not leaving early.

It's not about whether he should go pro it's about whether he will. And it seems to me that he and Prohm are expecting him to go pro after this season. A good amount of guys leave early and go in the 2nd round or are unstated every year as well.

It's possible, although unlikely Monte is considers a first round pick next year. Does the rule go into effect next year that allows them to declare and than go back to school after the draft camps?

Any highlights?
Hopefully try to get at least two guards and maybe one frontcourt guy in the early period and try to get a mid-year guy and try to sign two in the spring is kind of how I'd like to fill it if we could. We'll have another couple good guys on campus, probably not the Northern Iowa game because that's Labor Day Weekend, but the following weekend."

Obviously he wants to go pro. He planned on going pro after his sophomore season originally. Fred will more than likely tell him it's in his best interest to finish school and try to raise his stock more.

Sure a lot of players leave early, but that's largely because they get bad information and 60+ are told they will be 1st rounders.

It all comes down to Montes scoring. He has proven his ability as a pass first guy, but scouts are waiting to see if he can take over and score. As much as Prohm likes a scoring PG and the fact that we have limited depth sets Monte up nicely to raise his scoring average. I feel like Prohm wants to get Monte pro now to improve his track record and help recruiting.

We need a "Dead Horse" forum to discuss Monte leaving early. Every angle of every side has already been discussed a dozen times. He either will or will not leave early based on how he does this year and how he is projected. As of now we don't know how that will play out.

So this basically seems like he is stringing along ISU and will end up cutting us once he cuts his list. Wish he would do so so we can see if he is legit on liking ISU.

You sound pretty butthurt. How do you even know he's stringing ISU along? What kind of information do you have to back this up? Coffey hasn't done anything to tease ISU about his interest in the program.

I don't know if it means much, but ISU was the first school he mentioned. I think we make his final 5 list.

What do you want Coffey to do that would make you think he wasn't stringing ISU along? How do you know that he isn't truly interested? You'd rather him cut us than continue to show interest?

Recruiting will never work with that attitude because you can't sign kids who have cut you from their lists. Recruiting is frustrating but you can't hope for them to eliminate you...it makes zero sense.

well I hope we get this class lined up either way.....shoot even Penn State has 2 top 100 guys already
