Can Nader be a breakout player this year?

With Hogue and BDJ gone, he and Burton will need to combine for around 40 min/game IMO. Nader seems like he has all the makings of a guy that takes a big leap.

He just needs to be more consistent. Shoot less 3's and drive aggressively to the hoop, and I think it will take care of itself.

Towards the end of the year, you saw some flashes of what he can do if he plays more consistently.

GN really just needs to not have a long strings of missed outside shots. He also needs to play a little more physical, which I expect with another offseason of serious training. He was not quite as good at making space last year with his leaner body.

Wrong thread?

In my opinion Nader will have a breakout year this season. Like someone mentioned he showed flashes last year and if he stays aggressive he can be tough to stop. I know his percentages weren't good but I really do think he can be a good 3 point shooter as well. Definitely interested to see how he does because I think he can take a step up.

I think Abdel can be a really great player next year. Needs to have a little better shot selection but he definitely showed his skill sets and shined in some major moments- @WVU, @Iowa, Big 12 Championship game.

At what point do we just admit he is what he is? His best season he shot 30% from 3. The other two seasons were 22% and 27%. Nader needs to play to his strengths and take the ball to the rack for and1 opportunities.

I agree that he is better when attacking the basket as I mentioned he needs to stay aggressive but if his shot selection improves I think his 3 point percentage can go up a lot. Maybe I'm being too optimistic but I still think he can be a good 3 point shooter.

The improvements I immediately hoped for with a new coaching staff were improved D, greater discipline regarding certain fundamentals eg boxing out, and a willingness to tell Nader to reign in the 3 pointers.

A player with his size, handle, FT shooting, and 3 point ability should be taking it into traffic.

Since we have such limited depth upfront, I think Nader is going to be spending most of his time at the four spot spelling Niang and McKay, hopefully this lead to him shooting less threes and give him more of an opportunity to put the ball on the floor against bigger defenders which I think will be good for him.

I expected nothing of him last year so it was a positive year, other than not knowing where the out of bounds line was. I don't expect a breakout year this year, so anything will be a positive once again.

Regardless if we admit it or not, hopefully Prohm can get Nader to understand that he's not a 2 guard. Focus on rebounding, defending and driving to the hoop. He has good handles. He just needs to stop shooting so many 3's and he can be really good.

I think it could happen. He is a good player, he just needs to play with more consistency . I'm not sure he will ever contribute as much as Ejim or Hogue did, but he definitely could be a huge factor for next year's team.

I think he needs to improve on his outside shooting and rebounding, and be a factor every game in those areas. I do like the way he can drive to the basket though....he and Burton should both excel there and get to the free throw line a lot.

In the little bit of CCL video I saw of him, he looked a little lighter and a little quicker than last year. I like him playing at the 4 more than the 3. More minutes should help his consistency.

So do you guys think Nader will start this year? While I would think he would especially before Burton is eligible that would leave us with very little size coming off the bench.
