Recruit Lists v2.0

Adding to the "A. Cook to ISU" thoughts.

@AlexHalsted: 2016 JUCO PF Arlando Cook says Iowa State is showing the most interest. The latest (FREE): http://t.co/OrIXjVJ3es http://t.co/woAH7v1khN

I imagine ISU will want to know what their 2016 class looks like before the spring late signing period. I want Cook to be a Cyclone but I could see us filling all of the scholarships before then. Hope it works out for both parties.

SIAP, but who knows anything about 2016 6'9" power forward from Spirit Lake , Ryan Kreiner? Noticed that Missouri and Wichita State have offerred. Is it somebody we've missed, or passed on, or haven't seen him possibly move up as far as level of play? Have no knowledge as to if he's a potential high major or not. Jw.

He just committed to Iowa.

I don't see us filling all of the scholarships either way. Prohm has said he's going to be in the transfer market and even commented specifically on keeping an eye on mid-year transfers.

Recruiting quiz: Name three 5-star recruits (2016) that don't have one or more of KU, Kentucky, or Duke on their list. Is it even possible? Ugh.

Ryan Kriener who was mentioned on here a few days ago just committed to Iowa. No surprise there.

Edit: Looks like I'm behind again. This no wifi thing is killing me right now.

They already have Pemsl and taking Kriener this early might mean they don't feel good about Cook?
I didn't think of that at first but that makes sense. I mean why else would they offer a guy like Kriener. Not sure how many scholarships Iowa has for 2016 but 2 of them are already filled up with PFs. It'd be nice if this means Iowa doesn't have a good shot at Cook because I thought they were actually in pretty good shape.

Cook said recently he only plans on taking 3 or 4 visits and he wants to wrap up soon, so Iowa may have already gotten the memo from him.

They could have offered Kriener in November and gotten him, odd timing IMO but I know they were in on some better 2016 bigs

Maybe Arkansas and Virginia are the real competition there.

Another possibility is that Fran really thinks Kriener is underrated and has as much upside as Tyler Cook.

It seems like they might take at most one more Forward type but doubtful.

They don't have much currently on their roster for 2016 with just Uhl, but have Ahmad Wagner, Dale Jones, Isaiah Moss, and Brandon Hutton coming in this year to go along with Pemsl and Kriener.

Some of those guys are probably more in the wing/SF category though, so they still could take one more post.

I believe Iowa has 3 right now for 16 so only 1 left maybe 2. Kriener has a ton of mid major offers and a few high major offers. Not a total reach right now but I do believe he would have gone to Iowa in a few more months if Fran had waited til then to offer.

Sounds like it's between us and Arkansas for Arlando Cook
Not sure how you get that from what I've read. He's taking visits in the Spring which means multiple schools will be in play. Those 2 schools may lead now but with him waiting until Spring that will change.

I agree, it could really be a roll of the dice right now with who he picks. A lot happens over the course of a basketball season. The only thing that surprises me from a JuCo like this is that he wants to wait so late, I get he could gain more offers but if you are only going to have 2 years eligibility left I thought you'd want to go somewhere and make if forsure (in case of injury or academic problems, etc) that is just IMO though. All in all I think we have a really good shot at landing him, and we need a big.

Just means they'll have to weed out a couple of the 6'6" point guards, come spring.

I think these kids all/most want the big boys to offer to at least say they were offered. Once that happens, turning them down to go to a better situation can be difficult.

But then you can't sell playing time to all this recruits because they have the top two players in the state of Iowa coming in at the same position

Tyler Cook probably isn't shaking in his boots about PT with the post players they have committed.
