If we can't beat out KSU and Nebby for Horne, that would not be a good sign for our future recruiting.
Or it could mean those staffs have a better relationship with him because they actually existed longer than our staff. Don't read too much into where one kid commits

I realize one kid doesn't make a trend but let's face it, there aren't many HS recruiting situations better than Horne. Robinson was in on him previously. It's close enough to Ames. And KSU's head coach is 90% likely to be fired after the upcoming debacle where KSU has very little talent.
With us Horne can step in quite possibly to a 4-yr starting role with what should be a tourney/bubble team.
Good point. Recruiting for most teams (elite or not) is a long term relationship built with kids. I think we've gotten a little skewed by the way we've gotten players the last few years. Transfers, late signees, etc. I think it's amazing we are even s possibility with some of these guys with a new staff. I think Horne does end up here.

Probably right. That thought it is not a "fair" fight in terms of KSU's staff being there longer is not a rebuttal and is a bit fallacious. When going through a coaching transition you need to be able to overcome that you will have poor classes.
I think Winston is a big MSU lean so I'm not worried there. Who I am worried about with Simpson is Xavier.Pretty strong statement. Horne most likely but hearing a lean to KSU. King is a year away. So much can happen
As for Simpson, you want to watch Cassius Winston. He will choose between Michigan and Michigan State. He chooses Michigan and Simpson becomes MSU plan B. In that case we don't get him.

I have no idea where we are on the totem pole of relationships with this kid. I'm just saying that if we don't get him it isn't curtains for recruiting.Pretty sure we offered before Nebraska. But get your point.

Tim Miles' seat is also getting a bit warm, I would imagine.
Miles recently got a raise to over $2M and a contract extension through 2019-20.
In a lot of ways Prohm can't win right now with recruiting. If he goes after the guys that he has built relationships with, we'll ***** because he's going after Murray State talent, not big time talent. If he goes after big time talent and doesn't get it, we'll ***** because he doesn't have relationships with the big time talent.
I don't think that matters, if there are glaring issues going on, and they are not winning. They may decide to give him the buy-out and can his ***!
Murray State didn't make the tournament a year ago. Do you think Murray State would have made the tournament playing in the Big 12? Did they have top-5 Big 12 rosters the past 3 years? Iowa had more guys drafted under Fran than ISU had under Fred. Did Iowa have more talent?By "Murray State talent", you mean two players drafted in the last three years including a lottery pick and a guy who started for Philadelphia last year. Or put another way, twice as many as Hoiberg had drafted in five years with that one player being a monumental bust. Seems like a legitimate concern.
So because Prohm has coached 2 players who have been drafted that means that the rest of the players on Murray State are not mid major players? "Murray State talent" in that context was just meant as "Mid Major talent". And you act like those 2 players were NBA level talent as recruits out of HS. They were diamonds in the rough. So just because 2 Murray State players were drafted under Prohm & only 1 was drafted under Hoiberg that the Murray State teams the past few years were on the same level talent wise as the Iowa State teams? You can't be serious with that post.By "Murray State talent", you mean two players drafted in the last three years including a lottery pick and a guy who started for Philadelphia last year. Or put another way, twice as many as Hoiberg had drafted in five years with that one player being a monumental bust. Seems like a legitimate concern.
Miles is completely fine.
