Happy 4th of July! Let's hear from you all, where are the best holiday fireworks shows in our great state?:spinny:

Supposedly Davenport (Red, White and Boom) this year will have the biggest display between Chicago and Denver (4500 lbs of fireworks), with the Centennial Bridge as a backdrop.

Too bad Detroit and the surrounding area have done their shows last weekend and before.

CR's are usually decent. So are the CR Boat Clubs on the third.

Nothing will ever beat living in Andover, KS though. Everywhere you look for hours there are fireworks.

Don't want to start a fight, hate those threads, but I always thought our (CR) fireworks were pretty average. Some of the small towns have almost as good, but I'm not a expert by any means, and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn last night.

Whichever city will detonate all of them at once..

I agree wholeheartedly. Any fireworks show that lasts longer than 5 or 10 mins is worthless IMO.

You get longer than 10 mins and it gets really boring. Just fire everything you got as fast as you can.

For a town of 600 people, Grand Mound usually has a pretty good show.

I agree. Fireworks shows are all about the same.

Dyersville usually puts on a good show, and it's really cool to sit in the baseball stands for the field show. Greater effect when it's timed to the music.

Dubuque's are pretty good, always on the 3rd of July. The finale is really awesome!

If it's just standard plain old sit down and watch fireworks being shot off then yes, you're right. If it's at say a ball park or theme park or something like that where it's coordinated with music and other stuff then I don't have an issue with longer firework shows.

I wasn't there, but some friends of mine said Urbandale's show completely sucked this year. What's the word?

It did.....was less than 10 minutes and no finale. Waiting for more information but I'm guessing they probably had an electronic malfunction of some kind. No one knew for sure what to do when they just stopped. Everyone waited a few minutes, then started getting up to leave. It was really lame. Definitely hitting up Racoon Park or Waukee next year.
