"Iowa State was a major factor under the leadership of Fred Hoiberg. Assistant Cornell Mann had built a strong relationship with Bridges, and also point guard Monte Morris and Bridges go way back. When asked about the current situation with the Cyclones, Bridges said, “I haven’t talked to them yet, but I have talked to Monte Morris and he told me that they would be talking to me. Also I know Coach (Steve) Prohm is a great coach.â€￾At this point Bridges is focused on the summer and helping The Family in the Peach Jam. After July is when he plans on really visiting schools. Bridges says he intends to take all of his visits before issuing a commitment in the fall."

Also so talks about recent play, Michigan State & Kentucky.

Thank you!

I'm guessing I'm in the large majority.... of those that would be shocked if Monte is back his senior year. Unless he doesn't project to go in the draft. But that would probably only happen if the upcoming season didn't go well, but we're not certainly going to think on those lines.

I'm not sure why everyone is so convinced he's gone after this year. Every knowledgeable person I have heard talk about MM does not think he projects all that highly at the next level. Most I have heard thinks he has a chance to land on a squad, but it is doubtful he will ever be a first round pick.

He needs to work on improving his strength, especially in driving to the hoop and defending. His isolation game also needs work for the next level.

If you read the whole article he lists 8 schools but you get the feeling three stand out. MSU, Kentucky and ISU. From this and previous interviews sounds like Michigan State gives him the opportunity to be near family, he likes the idea and stature of Kentucky and ISU has Monte. If Monte comes back for his Senior year I think we would have a chance but still think a long shot.

Energy coach on 1700 past week was interesting said he thinks he could get picked up as a really good game manager but game managers don't get drafted. He said he should stay all 4 and then try and get a free agent contract. Said Georges won't likely play in the NBA he even hesitated in saying Europe (said "hopefully, I mean man indont want to knock a guys dreams I will just say he is a really good College player"). He said he could see McKay getting drafted and being a legit contributer in the next level especially the way the game is changing. He said Monte benefited from Hoiberg and how he used him with spacing more than him being great. Granted I didn't get the feel he watched a ton of Iowa State games. Said the shot clock change won't do much because of the archaic foul rules and how the college game is called.

I'm not convinced he will leave early either.

I've also never really got why everyone just assumes he's going to leave next year. Looking at 2016 mock drafts, many places don't even have him being picked & he's got to work on some things big time to become an NBA player. I don't think Georges is an NBA player considering he's a tweener plus the obvious athletic issues. Jameel is interesting because he's got solid size for an NBA 4 guy plus his good length. I feel like if he's actually developed a 3 point shot like he's said he has & has been working on he could be a desirable guy for NBA teams in a poor man's Ibaka role.

the reason why "everyone" assumes he'll leave is everyone here follows college basketball and no one follows the nba. so because he'll be referred to as "the best/one of the best PGs in the nation" all next season, people will assume that means he'll go to the nba.

unfortunately for monte (and lucky for us) by crazy nba standards, he's small, not that athletic, and an average shooter/scorer. he may very well have an nba career, but he won't be shooting up draft boards any time soon.

Well said. Monte will be an NBA player but I don't know that he'll be an NBA first rounder. I'm actually pretty sure he won't be. If he's a lock for Round 1 he'll leave but I doubt that's the case. Of course you never know.

Oh I agree, he probably wont be the first rounder type or maybe even 2nd round, but my assumptions werent based on that. They are based on talking to people who are much closer to those that know/work with/ involved with Monte. I actually think he'd benefit by staying all four years, but that's easy for me to say.

Something that can be overlooked when discussing borderline NBA players is the value of playing in the D League rather than overseas. Guys like David Stockton & Chris Babb for example have earned themselves deals after staying & proving themselves in the D League. The accessibility makes the possibility of playing in the NBA much higher for guys in the D League. Also, like it's been mentioned in this thread, Euro stats can be tougher to gauge at times. I feel like if a guy really wants to play in the NBA, playing in the D League would be the best option to prove I'm able to.

D League had 40 call-ups in 2014, the highest ever.

Can someone explain to me why Tyus Jones is such a better NBA prospect than MM? They seem to have pretty similar strengths and weaknesses to me.
