What does that have to do with anything? Does Duke win the NC without Okafor? Does Wisconsin get to the Final Four without Kaminski? Do you guys with the Big Twelve tourney without Morris?

I think the question is for this upcoming season. IMO Hawks are blowing bubbles.

I wouldnt be surprised, honestly. The Big Ten is going to be tough next year, plus, we are going to need Uthoff to have a huge year, and a freshman to step up.

I agree, Utoff will see a lot of attention from defenses, someone will have to step up and make plays.

Yup. And I know you guys really hate Woody, but we really need him to have a big year. Like a 15 and 8 type year. Its a stretch, but we need it. I think our PG play is oging to be solid with two SRs splitting time. It will be interesting to say the least.

This is from the FWIW dept. Whether this Joe Weiskamp fellow becomes a fine player or not is not important to me. I hope he has as good a career as he can have no matter where he plays. What I would like to see, is the occasional player in Iowa choose ISU for his destination to play basketball. It would be fun to have an Iowa native starring for the Cyclones. Not sure whether Iowa kids do not fit into our recruiting strategy or not but if there is an Iowa player that is talented, would like to see him play in Ames rather than Iowa City or Cedar Falls.
First thing we need is continuity. I wonder what may have been had Fred been here back in 2006. Perhaps by 2010, the likes of Barnes and Paige may have actually attended ISU. Instead, when Fred got here, he had a major uphill battle. Now, five years later, we get a new coach (one that is not a known entity in the state). If there are 4-5 star in-state players here, it could take them a little while to "warm up" to who Prohm is.
Also, it doesn't help that a good chunk of my generation grew up watching Hayden's Hoks dominate the FB scene - and those are the ones who have HS kids. So a number of those recruits may likely come from hok fan families and may likely choose Iowa over ISU.
That said, I just want us to get the BEST PLAYERS available - if that means no roster member is from our state, so be it.

15 and 8 from Adam Woodbury? You can't be serious

Oh Wow!

Drop the mike and walk off on that one dude.

It is a logical extension....

Duke, Wisky, Iowa

Makes sense

Oh for gods sake, you know I wasnt comparing him to them. What Im saying is, if you are going to say, "Well, this player is the only reason Iowa made it to the tournament", its the same as saying one of those guys made it possible for their own team to succeed like that. You honestly thought I was comparing him to them? Good lord... Good players make their team go. He made our team go. I only pray we could have as manny AAs as Iowa State so we never run into that problem again.

Dude, what is your problem. I said we need it from him. Not saying im expecting it, or even counting on it. Im saying we need it from him.
To be fair, he meant all season not per game.

You aren't getting anything close to that production from him so what do you mean you need it from him? Like you won't make the NIT if he doesn't put up those numbers?

I don't think many people think Fran is actually on the hot seat. That just isn't realistic. I don't think he'll be signing a lifetime contract this year, but he's solidified his job the past two seasons.
Iowa fans were saying it plenty last December and I was baffled by them sing he was on the hot seat. You guys heat and cool the seat so much it's hard to keep track

Things I've learned from this thread today:

1. Great players do not work in Fran's system, so that is why he recruits scrubs that won't break his system.
2. If a player is leaning to the Hawkeyes, all other schools get scared and their offers get blocked.
3. Way too early rankings are something to brag about. Iowa is already in on Aaron White Jr. and Marble III.

When iowa lost to northwestern and began to slide, fans were ready for Fran to be fired.

Well if you get 15 and 8 from Woodbury I would definitely move Iowa from 'bubble' to 'in the dance'.

He has games where it looks possible, and others where it looks impossible. 8 rebounds per game is much more realistic than 15ppg, that'd be almost tripling his scoring.

First post I read in this thread is saying something about Adam Woodbury getting 15 and 8. I now have a wet pillow from spitting my water out.

No he isn't. Ingoli would turn 20 during his freshman year of college. Playing with younger kids, yeah you'll probably look good.

I don't think Ingoli would even have to do the one and done then. I think the only age restriction for entering the NBA draft is the player has to be at least 19. Most kids are 17 or 18 when they finish high school thus why they have to go to college for one year or play on a NBA D League team. I thought that 19 years old would just encourage kids to not graduate high school until they were 19, but haven't heard of that.
