Murray State Board

Their football team is competitive

Iowa State definitely does not have the tradition that half of the Big 12 teams do,

I certainly hope he can take the success they've had the last two years and build on it.

Try four years * *****.

Since 1985, ISU has had 15 20+ win seasons, or one every other year on average. Of these 31 seasons, only 9 were outright losing seasons - and FOUR of them were from Greg McDermott

Over the last 31 seasons, ISU is averaging about 19 wins per season. BOTTOM FEEDER! These guys are just perpetrating the stereotype of people in Kentucky.

The guy who said it just went on Wikipedia and looked at our overall record vs. Conference foes and saw we only were leading a few (his words),in fact we lead 4 out of the 9 other current conference members putting us squarely in the middle. Additionally, he discounted these being 108 year series in many cases and he deduced that to mean we are historically bad (even though despite us being bad for 78 years excluding Kansas they are all competitive and the more recent additions we all dominate). Looking at the record of just since the big 12 was formed you get a different view. Whatever though, he is right. Up until Orr we were a bottomfeeder, 30 years doesn't wipe out the 78 before it. The thing that bothered me was someone comparing us to Texas A&M.

Seems weird that their fans have this opinion but it's just so easy not to care. I can't remember the last time OVC basketball mattered to me in the slightest and that's not gonna change now.

I took Eastern Illinois to the elite 8 in NCAA hoops 2k8. I think that's the last time I cared about the OVC.

I didn't read every single post, but I didn't see anything there I took great offense to either. Hell, some of the dumbest, most absurd crap I've ever had the misfortune related to sports or otherwise to read has come from our own fans on this very site. Who are we to judge?

I remember meeting some Murray State fans down in Louisville back in 2012 for the NCAA tournament. Nice people, proud of their team and program, pretty much like us in that regard. I was also impressed with the numbers they brought, even if Louisville isn't that far away from Murray.

I still can't get over their claim our football program is " competitive" mularchey! I damn near choked on my morning coffee when I read that..

I'm confused . Our basketball team isn't very good but our football team is competitive? I'd love to know how they came to that conclusion.

My assumption is that many of their fans are the Kentuck equivalent of Purple Hawks. They are Murray State alums, but root for Kentucky Wildcat basketball. They don't compete against each other that I can see.

So their idea of good basketball is what Kentucky does on a regular basis.

As for football, I'm wondering if they don't realize that the state of Iowa has more than one BCS level football program. Maybe they confused the Hawks football team with ours or they saw that we've been to bowl games in the past 10 years which means we must be competitive
