I think last year at this point, he was one name that a lot of Cyclones' fans not only respected but somewhat endorsed. Seems like a good person, young, and could bring some great things both on and off the court?

Yeah. I think he's a very good coach and has done a great job at NCCU, but there are a lot of posters on here who are referring to the coaches/schools we're looking at as "low majors", which IMO is inaccurate, as I think they would be considered more as "mid majors" by people who follow college basketball for a living.
On the other hand, North Carolina Central, and in fact almost all of the HBCU's (historically black colleges/universities), such as in the MEAC which NCCU is in, are most definitely true "low majors". Say Steve Prohm is offered and accepts an offer from Jamie...Moton going to Murray State to replace him is a more logical step up on the totem pole instead of Moton coming directly to Iowa State.

He's not head coach material at this level of D1 ball yet, but he did get a nice honor of being a coach for the US U-19 team and he's obviously a decent coach and I think he's well-respected.
The same reason Tim Brewsters name was mentioned during the football coaches search about 10 years ago.

What he's done at NCC has been impressive. I'm sure some would flip if he was hired but I find him at least mildly intriguing. Glad he got an interview at least.
@GoodmanESPN: Iowa State interviewed several guys this weekend. One name that wasn't mentioned who interviewed, per source: NC Central's LeVelle Moton.
Wow. Um...Exciting. Not sure if I want him, but definitely a fun guy to follow and would be a few fun years regardless of what happens on the court.

I would like him a lot more if ISU hadn't put dropped 93 points on his team. What he has done there is very impressive, though.
Unless we plan on recruiting Ames type of kids, this might be a + in recruiting then.
As the ISU coach, Wayne Morgan beat Northern Iowa coach GMAC 2 of their 3 meetings. And look what happened. Should have been a hint, right? So us pounding his team in the NCAA will have no bearing on JP. Besides, take away George's broken foot, that team last year was playing as good as anyone in the country.
