Lead recruiter McMahon left this spring for La Tech. He would not be coming with Prohm. Prohm was at Murray State as an assistant prior to becoming HC......promotion from within......imagine that. And is pretty much his only experience at the one school. He is an Alabama graduate. Roots are in the South. Don't know how that would translate to Ames, Iowa.

Murray State couldn't even make the NCAA with a 16-0 league record and 29-6 record overall. They made the NIT and made it to the Quarterfinals. Whoopty freaking do.

Ok? Iowa State didn't make it as far as they should have either. That **** happens in March. That's why it's called madness.

Murray State did not even make the NCAA. And in the NIT they only made it to the Quarterfinals. They were not that good. And were legitimately left out of the NCAA Tourney, despite their 29-6 record.

Ohio Valley Conference had 1 automatic bid to NCAA......Belmont, which lost in the first round. and was a 15th seed. Murray State was the lone NIT team which lost in the Quarter finals. And they had 3 teams in the CIT which is for teams that did not make the NCAA, or the NIT. The Ohio Valley Conference is not a good league.

There's a lot of smoke out there and when it all clears I'm still hoping for Horny with Otz as his top assistant, which would be by far our best result.

Did you see who they play? LOL.
I heard that when we hired Tim Floyd from New Orleans and Eustachy from Utah State. Ever heard of Bo Ryan, Coach K, Bill Self, etc..... I guess I don't understand where you think coaches come from. I base things relative to the competition they play. Prohm has done a hell of a job every year he has been there. 20+ wins per year. Larry had only been to 1 ncaa before he took this job and Tim also.

Where are you trying to go with this?

Tim Floyd had been Head Coach at both Idaho and New Orleans before coming to Iowa State. Larry Eustachy had been Head Coach at Idaho and Utah State before coming to Iowa State. Not sure you can equate that to the one stop at Murray State that Prohm has been. Prohm served as an assistant there and then was elevated to Head Coach at Murray State. Classic hire from within. Using your logic that should never have been done.

He runs a type of system we need to run to be good next year, and to continue to be good in the future. He's recruited and developed NBA players at Murray Freaking State. Who cares how many schools he coached at, he wins. That's what matters.

I'd rather hire a proven winner HC from a small school than an assist who's never been apart of a good team. He's not really promoting from within when he hasn't been here during the last few years. He wasn't going to get the HC job at the other places he's interviewed, or the ones he canceledz. But he's good enough here?

I'm still waiting for some examples of assistants from bad teams to get promoted and be successful. You are shooting down someone who wins awards and championships for someone who's never won anything or made it anywhere.

Then I want Vance Downs. The guy is a winner. He developed Harrison Barnes and Doug McDermott. Two Lottery picks in the NBA. And Bubu Palo who played ball at Iowa State. Let's get him.

If Steve Prohm is such a slam dunk hire, then why wasn't he hired at Alabama or Florida. Alabama was his "dream job" he claimed.

Didn't realize Fred's teams sucked and underachieved so badly his first 3 years. Otzelberger was instrumental in turning things around at Iowa State with Fred Hoiberg.

Are you seriously comparing a high school coach to a Div. 1 college basketball coach?
