Official 2015 Hoiberg NBA Speculation Thread

Boy, for all those people claiming something was going to go down today it's actually been quieter today than the last two. Don't know if that should give me comfort or make me worry more.

Did you not see Jeremy's post and listen to the CW/RG podcast this morning? These guys are essentially saying Hoiberg is gone. It is way past the 70/30 that Jeremy posted last week. Jeremy has moved on to pushing for our acceptance of TJ as the new head coach.

I have to admit, I have thought CFH has been gone for a while now, but I am still in full denial and think it may take a while to reach acceptance that TJ could be our new coach, although it does seem that way.

Oh the timing of this

As I read the letter, it seemed so filled with assumptions about Hoiberg being with us for the foreseeable future. You have to think that most who anted up with bigger donations did so in recognition that in large part, they were paying for Hoiberg's new salary.

At the end of the day... it doesn't matter if JP hires Larry Bird, or Phil Jackson, or Coach K... nobody is going to be happy because it isn't Fred Hoiberg. Hoiball is no more.

So the new problem is the donors who increased their donations were basically sold a lie. I'd say their reaction is more important than us fans on a message board.

Interesting that Thomas spoke to Fred a few times after the surgery and he said he was staying.
If he had accepted the job Thibs would be gone. Doesn't mean he won't accept it but right now he hasn't. Bulls haven't even spoken to Thibs yet. I imagine the Bulls are putting full court press on Hoiberg while at the same time workin for a deal for him with Magic. But if I was the Magic I wouldn't give up anything for him.

More proof everybody lies.

What kind of bothers me now is this "Fred could end up at any number of NBA teams!" Makes it seem like he wants to leave, and not just for the Bulls. I had started to accept that you can't turn down the bulls... but when there's talk he could go somewhere else... that makes it seem like we truly are a stepping stone.

It all does kind of have the feeling of all of those "NBA 8 team 16 player mega-trades" that you hear about that never come to fruition because one team wanted an unprotected second round pick but their partner in the 8 team deal would only give a protected pick so the entire 8 team deal fell through.

Remember Fred hasn't said a thing. He's a top 3 name in coaching search circles right now. Likely he hasn't contacted anyone. His name is just out there for everyone to pick up on. Just because reports are that so and so is interested in Fred, doesn't mean he has the least interest in them.

I don't think that's entirely true. The Bulls are trying their damnedest to get something of value for Thibs. My assumption is they already talked to Fred and he's lined up and ready to take the job. So now that the Bulls have that part of the deal handled they can take their time in making sure they at least get something for Thibs. In the mean time official news has come to a complete stop because the Bulls can't announce Fred yet, and Fred can't really talk about it either. I'm assuming in the end if the Bulls can't get anything of worth for Thibs they will just cut and pay him and Fred will be brought in. This is why we are in silence mode right now. If Fred was going to turn them down he would have done so and said something by now.

Someone finally stopped making assumptions! All of the people on here saying it's obvious he's leaving are so annoying. I'm glad you have the same realistic read on this situation as me.

If he wasn't interested he would have said something by now.

"I saw him a couple times in his office after his (April 17) surgery, and what Fred told us was that he will be back," Thomas said. "We're planning on him being back."

Wonder if he was lying to the players or what changed in a month...
