Driving from Ames to Minneapolis to meet face to face with a coach candidate is a lot different than flying to Atlanta to meet with a search firm. Maybe there were candidates there, I don't know. Just doesn't make much sense to me.

Main difference is it's a 3 hour drive instead of a 3 hour flight. Not that different, IMO. Got it done in 1 day.

If he does leave, I hope he at least has a press conference in Ames and takes questions from the media. Also, I would hope the local media would ask some tough questions about his decision.

What for? That seems pointless. Issue a short statement and move on. He's already said all the things he's going to say anyway

If Pollard was going to meet with a search firm or a possible coach it would make sense not to have them come to Ames. A meeting in Atlanta would make sense.

I guess I would say the main difference is one is a candidate you went to visit with contract in hand, and the other is a search firm with which candidates could easily be discussed without meeting face to face.

Fred owes us nothing. Release a nice statement and move on.

Tough questions? I agree. Why? I don't answer tough questions from any employer as I'm moving on

I come in here a few times a day prepared to meltdown, and even read the football forum to feel better. Terrible

Why? I suppose I could see it if there was an actual candidate, but otherwise no.

Because he can move freely without the media chasing him down. They were camped out at the airport waiting for him. Imagine if whoever he was meeting with came to Ames?

it won't happen. If he takes the job the Bulls are not going to want his first media appearance to be a somber goodbye press conference. Most youll get is a few throw away lines about how much ISU means to him at his introductory press conference, which seems appropriate.

Thats just it, JP traveling through an airport is much more high profile than almost any other scenario. The media would be looking for guys from the search firm? Not likely. Better yet, a simple video conference would suffice.

They probably had someone following or at least keeping an eye on Pollard's activites all day today, not just at the airport.

It's crazy to see how much this fan base wants Fred to stay, and half of the Bulls fans don't want Fred or even know who he is.

Reading the bulls SB nation, there was a lot of dis-like of the idea of a 5 year college coach jumping to the NBA. They would much rather have someone with actual NBA HC experience to take over their roster.

As much as people discounted the "source" that said it was a done deal and Pollard was in Atlanta looking for a replacement it isn't looking very bad with this info.
Nope, Wonder if freese was sitting by him on the plane or something. Just don't know why he would know if it's the guy I am think of.

Old roster with a fanbase stuck in the 90's. A front office that has the roster so jacked that they will have to trade an important piece to sign a max deal with a one year wonder who doesn't get along with the "franchise" player holding on to his spot.

What could possibly go wrong?

Which is why common sense would say where was Horny yesterday? The Lottery?

Every Bulls fan I know has said they want Thibs back so I agree it's crazy to think he might go somewhere he isn't that wanted by the fanbase over a place he literally couldn't be more beloved by the fanbase.

That being said ISU fans loved Fred for his playing days, but a lot questioned his hiring at first too.

Lol. Are you kidding? They're practically demonizing everyone who is miffed at this and have taken the "how dare you question Fred Hoiberg and his motives" stance, along with most of this board.

Which annoys the hell out of me. They aren't fans. At least profess that they aren't.
