Mad Max: Fury Road

You don't really have to do all that much digging on RT. there is an average rating out of 10 directly below the percentage, and it's usually pretty close to what the metacritic score is

I meant digging for each reviewer and what they rated it. And it is pretty substantial in terms of difference. 98% overall for Mad Max but if you look at top critics it drops to 8.5/10. Still great but nothing near basically 10/10. That would be a B+ grade vs an A grade. That's a difference.

8.5 is pretty much what I was thinking after I watched it. Was it perfect? Of course not, but it delivered 2 hours of solid action entertainment for me. There were some crazy stunts

I didnt realize until after I saw it that Toecutter from Mad Max is the same actor that played Immortan Joe in the new one. Hard to tell with the mask on.

Yeah but if you asked people what they thought of 'Independence Day' I'm sure a majority would say they liked it, even though it's without question the stupidest movie of my lifetime. There are even plenty of critics who loved it.

Makes no sense to put any stock into what critics or the masses think about a movie. If it looks good and has actors that I like, I'll see it. If I get burned so be it. But I'll never decide to see or not see a movie based on what a review site or critics say. They're as full of ***** as the rest of us.

I'm pretty sure I've seen you post about Independance Day before on here. Why exactly do you hate it so much? Just curious. I remember thinking it was a cool movie when it came out and I was like 10. Haven't seen it recently but really have no opinion one way or another on the film.

I can definitely see how many who may go back & watch the first would think it is not good. It was a low budget movie with a weird premise & a bunch of no-name Aussie's acting in it. At the time, though, it had a very different feel to it and it was weird and creepy, especially the villain, Toecutter. Hugh Keays-Byrne was the actor who portrayed Toecutter, and it just so happens he plays the part of Immortan Joe in Fury Road. Dude's come full circle

Anyways, Mad Max set up the Road Warrior, which was friggin' awesome & holds up a lot better (Can't believe that was 1981!). The third had its good moments but imo it could have done without the whole group of kids/Lord of the Flies in the desert thing which was too far out there. As long as Fury Road & any other continuations of this series stay away from that sort of thing will be the way to go.

Crazy thinking George Miller's work as a director is limited as it is & goes from the Mad Max franchise to the Witches of Eastwick, then Babe Pig in the City and then the two Happy Feet installments, then now back to Max. Seems he's still got it though with Fury Road, to which I'm very happy.

Good stuff. Road Warrior is one of the all-time great action movies - the stunts are incredible, the characters (mainly the villians) are memorable. One of the best chase scenes of all time. Also, I think the Oakland Raiders fans were all inspired by the looks from the movie, spiked shoulder pads and whatnot (thankfully no assless chaps). Just great stuff. Remember the Feral Kid from that movie? We used to laugh our ***** of at him in college (it was old movie then but still great) and my buddy would try to call up the actor who played him and leave him messages.

Ok, how girl friendly is this movie? I'm not sure if my fiance will be up for it seeing as she's never seen the original Mad Max movies.

My girl had only seen maybe 10 minutes of the originals. Loved this one. But I dont think every girl will like these, so tread lightly.

Her favorite part was the dude playing the flaming guitar. <--- keeper

just last week I was looking up old clips, etc of the 1st two Mad Max movies and happened to look up who played Wez, the true 'road warrior' that the wrestlers based their look off of who was the whacked-out dude with the red mohawk. Saw it was Vernon Wells which rang a bell with me. Checked out quick and behold, he also played Bennett, the villain in Schwarzennegger's 'Commando'. I was blown away. If you were going to be a bit actor & play 2 villains from the 1980's, it doesn't get much better than Wez & Bennett.

Funnier still, the 3rd highest-ranking job he has had as an actor was a villain on the Power Rangers. Weird, wacky stuff right there.

To get really obscure, he was also the bad guy with the fake hand from the movie Innerspace.

After watching Fury Road yesterday, I went home and watched Road Warrior just because it had been a long time since I had watched it. The entire time I laughed thinking about the good ol' days of calling up the Feral Kid.

Wife came along reluctantly. She loved it so much she wants to see the original films now!

This movie has all the plot & character development it needs for a 2 hour chase marathon. Tons of incredible stunt work and practical effects. Best action flick in years!

I'll have to agree with everyone here that the vehicle with the drums and guitar player was ridiculously awesome.
