NFL: ***Official NFL Draft Thread***

Any fellow Packer fans out there??

Packers have had kind of a strange draft so far IMO. I know they're losing Tramon Williams in the secondary, so I'm not all that surprised by the first two picks, taking a nickel safety/corner guy with the first pick, and a true corner with the 2nd pick. However, I feel like they probably could have gotten both of these guys much lower than where they took them?

Their first pick seems like a playmaking ball hawk kind of safety/corner. Not the best tackler in the world, but makes a lot of plays on the ball. I'm all for that.

And then with their 3rd pick, they go WR with Ty Montgomery. I love Ty Montgomery, I think he'll be good in the league, but WR didn't seem like much of a need at all IMO. But, the best ILB were all gone, so maybe they just went with the best player available? TE is more of a need than WR though. I wish they could have gotten Maxx Williams, the TE from the Gophers, I think he's going to be really good. But he was gone before their 3rd pick.

The good thing is... the Packers didn't really have a lot of needs, so they can kind of just take the best player available. They do need to replace AJ Hawk somehow though.

How about a cardboard cutout of AJ Hawk?

The ILBs were all sitting there with their first pick. Shocked they didn't go that route and come back for a DB in the second round. It's not like either DB they took were that highly regarded.

It's kind of embarrassing that southern Illinois and Illinois state have a player drafted but we don't.

It's disappointing that they couldn't turn one of the linemen from that 2010 class into a draftable player. Also disappointing they couldn't turn those three true freshmen from the 2011 class into one.

Hell a d3 school even had a player drafted.

Samford, Hobart, UNI, Texas Southern, S. Illinois, Chattanooga, North Dakota State, Towson, Delaware, Ill State, Tenn State, Monmouth, Northwestern State, Eastern Washington, Newberry, Central Arkansas, William and Mary all had players drafted.

CPR's biggest failing has been lack of player development and it shows up every draft.

Nobody drafted from ISU. This is year one of at least 2 years in a row with ISU getting no one drafted. There won't be anyone drafted next year either unless someone really steps up big time.

Final Big XII Scorecard

School #Drafted
OU 6
TX 5
WV 4
KU 3
K St. 2
Baylor 2
TCU 2
OK St. 1
I St. 0

La'el Collins went undrafted. Per league rules he can't enter the supplemental draft or re-apply for the 2016 draft. If his name is cleared after he talks to police then someone is going to get one hell of a rookie free agent bargain. Most mocks had him as a first rounder until this week.

Our player development/strength and conditioning program is kind of a joke.

I don't know if S&C is the main factor (it may very well be). But, what's really glaring is the lack of fifth year guys that get that extra year of development and maturity, especially O linemen and linebackers. If a program like ISU is to rise out of mediocrity, the pipeline has to be created at some point to put guys on that kind of success track. Very frustrating that it hasn't happened. Maybe it's in the process of happening now. Let's hope so.
