I'm catching the Cubs this Saturday, and am looking for suggestions on hotels to stay in Chicago. It's a 1:20 start, so I would like to be in an area with some night life within walking distance. TIA

Prob won't help much, but we stayed at a Days Inn that wasn't far. We walked and hit all the day life there and night life back. This was a couple summers ago.

I stayed at Hampton Suites (12-15 story) on Illinois a dozen times. Illinois going east turns into the Navy Pier.. Walking distance. The Hampton Suites is quiet and peaceful

~ a block from House of Blues; Harry Caray's, and the Hubbard street bars. A couple blocks from Michigan Ave

Our friend was a manager there for 10 years. It is where the CUBS stash their free agents and rookies for months at a time. My buddy knew all of the players and managers who came through. Our first stay in '97, we road down the elevator with Kerry Wood and his family.....

Hotel is near the train to Wrigley. Don't stay in some lousy suburban hotel......stay downtown

This is the one on Diversey and Clark (entrances on both sides), if it is the one I think you are talking about. It is about a mile from the stadium or so. Nice central location in Lincoln Park/Lakeview. I think if you want to stay near Wrigleyville it is a good choice. There are a few hotels further north too, but I don't know how they are.

Depending on the kind of night life you're looking for and if you're also with people who might want to hit up some shopping and other touristy things, then staying downtown would be your best bet. Anywhere downtown near a red line train stop will only be a 15-20 minute ride to Addison. If you're downtown, you'll be near tons of shopping, restaurants, bars, etc.
If you're just looking for bars and being near Wrigley, you can find something closer in Lincoln Park or Lakeview.

Thanks for the input, we ended up staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown.

The Red Line was great to get to Wrigley from downtown. We were able to get back to our hotel faster than we can get to Hwy 30 from Hilton after a MBB game.

I know you have already gone, and this isn't the type of hotel you were looking for. We went to a game last year and stayed in Schaumburg near the mall. It worked out really nice, because there was a bus that we got around there that took us and dropped us off right by Wrigley. You had to basically leave right after the game, but if someone wants to get in and out for a game it is nice.

Generally we stay at the Best Western River North on our Chicago trips. It's an older hotel, however has free parking, only a few blocks from the El and is in the bars/restaurants/shops of the River North area of Chicago.

Stay in the North Michigan Avenue or River North areas. Plenty of everything nearby, including the train to Wrigley.

And as much as I love downtown Chicago, you might also consider Evanston. Fantastic selection of restaurants without the downtown Chicago tourists everywhere. Evanston Express train links to the train to Wrigley (make sure it runs on Saturday).

Or stay in New Town (or whatever it is called now) if you want an alternative experience that is nearby to Wrigley.
