Vogelbach? That's the only reason why the NL getting DH is something I wouldn't mind.Wouldn't mind giving the NL a DH as the Cubs have one of the best prospects in baseball who is awful defensively and will end up getting traded to an AL team soon if the switch isn't made.
Only issue - that's a bit more money an NL team will need to cough up.
It sucks. Guys like Wainwright getting hurt while batting blows, but the NL shouldn't consider adding the DH, IMO. The game is more interesting when managers have to actually weigh a lot of different factors into whether he keeps a pitcher in the game or not. The DH basically limits those factors to pitch counts, how well a guy is throwing on a given night and the matchups he'll see next inning. Having to choose between keeping a pitcher who's rolling in the game, even though he's leading off the eighth in a 1-run game, or sitting a guy who's been dominant on the mound to give your team a better chance of generating offense, is more interesting than watching Big Papi swing it.
The NL managers face more complex decisions than AL managers. The DH makes the decision pretty easy for AL managers. Easy is boring.
The game needs excitement and more runs....not an automatic out.
Then why not DH for every position guy who doesn't hit well? Catchers have more preparation than pitchers and they still have to hit.
