Nick Noskowiak

I don't understand the skepticism. Noskowiak looks to be a solid four year contributor. He's got to be the top target right now that we have a chance of landing.

A portion of our fan base doesn't know how to handle success. Nick is a consensus 4 star recruit, I would be thrilled to have him

Are you new here? I'd like to point you in the direction of some game threads from this season but on the other hand I don't want to put you through the pain of every time there was an offensive rebound given up there were at least 5 posts and two full new threads started with something to the effect of "Why isn't Edozie playing?" or "Put in Edozie".

Not to be redundant but you forgot "whar edozie?!?"

I'm pretty sure the bandwagon is gonna be so big this season that there are still going to be a lot of serious "Whar Edozie" going on around here next season even though he's graduated.

Nick has enough upside for me to be excited. If he's good or great, then we have everything to gain by taking him.

If he's not able to play at this level, then he will probably transfer down. TJ really likes the guy and has shown that he has a pretty good eye for talent so I trust him.

There will always be misses in recruiting, and there will always be players that exceed their rankings like Georges

I'm happy to have Noskowiak but can anyone tell me why they have no reservations about the fact that he was barely being recruited by anyone else before we stepped back in?

He got that 4 star ranking a long time ago and his offers do not reflect that ranking.

Not trying to be a downer, just trying to be level headed with this. Is there a reason there are no qualms here? I feel like many are expecting him to come in an contribute at a very high level but he may be more of a role player based on the interest others have shown, or have some other risks associated with him. I've seen speculation on his family situation but nothing actually solid.

I see offer lists used to justify many recruits all the time but when the opposite happens I don't see much of it.

You know rivals/247/ESPN/scout have the power to change a kids ranking right? The way I see it, the fact that he's remained in their top rankings and is still a 4 star speaks volumes to how much potential he has, considering how his recruitment has gone and the fact that he left basketball for a small period of time.

I don't know of anyone who expects him to be a high level player this upcoming year. He's the Custer role.

I see people acting like he is a top recruit though. He just doesn't seem to be. If he were ranked a 3 star and peoples expectations were the same, we wouldn't be using him to justify some of the other moves ISU is making.

CW put it in his most recent blog. Is he really a top 100 recruit or is that just a snapshot of what he was once considered? Why is there no competition? Shouldn't there be teams going insanely hard after him? It just confused me a little bit.

I do know that. I also know that you would think a top 100 player would be drawing an insane amount of attention from very high profile schools.

And I don't think he has dropped much at all in those rankings despite a pretty obvious change in his recruitment.

I would like to think that other schools see him as Iowa St's recruit, and spending a bunch of time recruiting him would be counter productive.

He said it was down to USC and ISU weeks ago. That might be part of the reason no one else has been giving him attention lately.

We only started recruiting him like 3 weeks ago again, and once we did he pretty much immediately became a silent commit.

What about the whole year between when we stopped recruiting him and started up again? Nobody came calling except USC?

I know where the hell he is ranked dude.

101 on 247. In the 80s on ESPN. Not ranked on rivals but a 4 star.

Why did nobody try to recruit him is all I'm asking? This is the easiest recruit we have ever landed. Even USC isn't even putting up a fight whatsoever. Couldn't some blue blood use a top 100 player?

He signed a LOI with Marquette, that's what happened.

I know right. Before fred we had never had more than 2 - 4 star kids on the same roster. Now a couple guys act like we are dropping standards by landing one. Laughable.
