'Maths'? We've got a Canuck on our hands...

Based on?

The video I've seen of him... hey I'm allowed to evaluate a prospect too, right?? I'll be all in for him when he committs and hope the kid kills it I just don't see it right now. But I've been wrong plenty so here's to being wrong again!

How do you properly evaluate based on compilations of highlights with little or no focus on any other aspect besides offense? If you have like a personal DVD collection or something of full games please create files and upload somewhere so we can all get to your level of NickKnowledge.

You can pay attention to little things like release point, quickness, form, etc. If you watch Georges HS film it pretty much is Georges to a T. Now he got better and improved but isn't much different from then to now.

And a **** ton of people didn't think Georges game would translate to the college game. In fact, there were quite a few on here unimpressed with his videos.

This. I'm not saying NN will be a Georges type of player but I think he looks like he has a big upside. The bottom line is, while I'd love him to come in and light the world on fire, we don't NEED him to give big minutes until 16/17. Anything we get from him next year is gravy. I wouldn't be thrilled if we were counting on NN to give us points or minutes next season but he's really appealing as a guy who may need a little time to develop.

Woah... Georges is playing with Nerlens Noel in that video. Did you guys know they played together in high school?

Woodbury= 7-footer in a class of some really good big guys, meaning if you didn't get one of the top guys (Noel, Isaiah Austin, Zeus "Zeus" Zeuszeuski) you were kinda screwed. Also, the dude went to Iowa. He never would've played at UNC or the other schools who offered him.

Woodbury is pretty bad, but saying you're unsure of Noskowiak because of Woodbury's ranking doesn't make sense to me.

I am saying that just because he is top 100 or 150 player does not mean equate he is a high major player.
Many of the kids in the lower half of these top 150 rankings do not pan out or end up transferring to mid major programs. ISU just went through this. I could provide a list of many others.

This on again off again recruiting of this kid tells me ISU was not sold on him, maybe due to his family issues, but could also be they were not sure if he could cut it as a high major guard.
Heck Matt Thomas was a top 50 kid and some this board have questioned his ability.

If ISU had 1 scholly to offer this kid probably not coming for a visit and would not receive an offer.
Don't think anyone can deny that.

But the fact is ISU has an extra scholly, its not a big risk, hopefully the kid is a homerun get.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but we essentially stopped recruiting him when Custer/Cooke got on board because there was no longer a need for another guard. Now that Custer has left, Noskowiak is a target again because we need another PG. I'd assume if Custer hadn't left, we would have only picked one of Babb/Noskowiak.

You may be right, but I thought we were going after him even after Custer had enrolled. I know we were recruiting the Grandstaff kid after Custer committed.

Maybe its more about TJ being back than anything else.

Again I hope the kid is great, its just been a strange courtship with him. But then again basketball recruiting is kind of a weird thing in general anyway.

Ding ding ding ding ding. Don't rack your brain too hard. AC with strong Wisky AAU connections and just stron Wisky ties in general comes back to town + lose young guard to transfer = not really as much of a hail mary as you apparently think.

His signing with Marquette also caused us to back off him, since, you know, he was signed to play at another school. His release from Marquette also led to us recruiting him again, since, you know, he was no longer signed to another school.

Also he was committed to Marquette for almost a year thus ISU couldn't have "interest" with him until opening up his recruitment in the past 6 weeks or so. TJ was his main recruiter 3 years ago when he made his first visit and the relationship was already set. ISU offered years ago so the fit and potential had already been agreed upon. Took a lot of differnt turning points to end up at this point.

Ask Morris how players in the lower half of the top 100 wind up doing... go ahead...ask him.

I'm aware not everyone is a Monte Morris, but they do happen. Who's to say this kid isn't the next Monte Morris?

Their rankings are reasonably similar for their position with Morris at 17 and Noskowiak at 18.
