Chieck Diallo rumors

I wonder if St. John's thinks they are out of the running and maybe that is why they signed Sima?

I think that makes sense even though reports are saying they will meet with Diallo this weekend. Sima had some pretty big fish after him and might have told St John's that he wasn't going to wait for Cheick to make his decision.

Cheick continuously repeating that he was waiting to see who went to the NBA gave away that he wasn't considering St John's, State or Pitt. I could be wrong, but no need to wait if you are interested in one of those 3 schools.

Hey Cheick:

Don't go and make yourself another cliche'! Come over to the good guys in Ames! Seriously! You'll have better support AND a better time/experience with the team that is struggling to get your type of talent! Certainly, you'll be more appreciated, and Fred has as many NBA connections as anyone!

One corner in Cyclone nation.

It's surprising to me that St. John's seem to have instantly become a hotbed. Likely that I paid more attention to them after the Matt A. hire, but they seem to get some serious attention from recruits. The staff they have with Mullin, Abdelmassih, and now Slice from UK seems about as good as your can hope for a Year One staff.

Oh joy! Another open letter written by another fan who thinks their opinion is the right way to think!

The NBA connections don't mean squat with a recruit like Diallo. He's that good so he will get drafted early. People bringing that up when it comes to recruits this high profile don't understand that it doesn't matter with people who are that good.

The fact that Diallo has stated he wants to be a one and done should make it pretty clear he doesn't care about support from a fanbase and that he's only in college because he has to be. Let's just face it: he isn't coming here. I've been optimistic until this weekend (longer than most people), but he isn't coming here and doesn't care about what you feel is right for a recruit.

Dear Cheick,
Will you go to prom with me:
[] yes
[]no
I hope you say yes.

I'll be curious how Mullin does. I think due to the recent successes of Hoiberg, Ollie, Hornacek, etc. people have this idea that former NBA players necessarily make great Head coaches.

He could be the next Hoiberg, but he could be the next Isaiah Thomas...

The funny thing is, your post is super cliche...

If you were using this sales approach to me, I would smell desperation with the word "struggling" and say "forget that. I'm going to be part of something better."

Well intentioned, strangely placed, but really sounds desperate.

St. John's get a big commit. Ellis is staying, so him and Bragg are likely the starters. Kentucky loses 7 players to the draft.

Kentucky bound.

I saw the writing on the wall and thought UK when everyone bolted for the NBA. Even before that announcement I figured KU or UK.

Bragg will backup Ellis, they are very similar players. Still leaves somebody to beat out Lucas. I would think Diallo could do that.

Lavin had some good players sign right away but it didn't really pan out.

If Thorne and Diallo go to Kentucky and Lucas is a starter at KU I will be a very happy man

Cheick will pull a triple-switcheroo when he announces. Fake put on UK hat to put on KU hat to say "I've decided to play for ISU".
