Chieck Diallo rumors

Is it so hard to understand that "and Iowa State’s Fred Holberg after the Jordan Brand Classic on April 17," means that the Jordan Brand Classic game is on April 17th and that the visit will be sometime AFTER that? Maybe Hoiberg sends an assistant coach to meet Diallo. From what I have read, most open heart surgery patients are out of the hospital after 5-7 days. Maybe Hoiberg meets with him after that.

lol.

Nice try.... Diallo will be decided by the 17th/18th.

Do you really think CFH will be able to fly a week post op? Seriously? This isn't a carpal tunnel release. CFH will not be meeting him face to face, perhaps an assistant, I have no idea, but not CFH.

If Don Corleone can meet with the heads of the 5 New York mafia families shortly after getting shot, then there is no reason Fred Hoiberg can't meet with Cheick 7 days post op.

Just read recent April 11th memo from Adam Zagoria. Who's this Eric Jacklitsch? Claims all 5 schools in play and that reports that anyone is eliminated is "false". That's funny, Eric, apparently our staff has been told differently. Not to beat a dead horse, but just don't get why the Diallo camp is claiming that.

I was wondering the same thing so I googled Eric last night. He is one of the assistant coaches at our savior where cheick is going to high school. Great question though.

If this were any other poster I would assume this is a joke.

Huh? Not sure I'm following your point here. Why did it make sense he held out for so long? What if you knew 3 months ago that it was a strong possibility he and Yakwe would come together to ISU (before the grad asst. snag)? Meaning, he wasn't worried about who KU and UK had coming back then. Man, I just want the Diallo thread, plus Williams and whomever else we lose out on with Matt gone, to be over.

So why did we hire the grad assistant again? Seems to be a ton available. Or did we not know the rules at the time?

Mullen is attempting to build a coaching staff around getting Diallo. He is trying to get Barry "Slice" Rohrssen from UK. Sorry if already mentioned.

With all due respect, I think he's building a staff because Slice is one of his best friends and a known elite recruiter. Don't think it would matter if Diallo was a recruit of theirs or not.

Pure speculation was just a very unfortunate timing thing. Knew Matt and brought on board. My assumption...with Yakwe only being a younger soph last year when we were pursuing Diallo as a junior, the window of time by the time he'd be a senior it wouldn't be an issue. Who could have possibly known that soon that he might be able to reclassify and play together with CD? What would have been worse.... is if the two of them would have committed to ISU together, then Matt leaves, taking both of them with him. Either way we don't end up with Diallo but at least it wouldn't be another release situation "kick in the nuts" like Williams after the fact.

Oh, okay.

I have a hard time believing that has nothing to do with it, however. After all, this is the same guy who hired Matt Abdelmassih.

I still think we shouldn't give up on going after 5's. If LSU can do it with a horrible program getting Ben Simmons, Hoiberg will should be able to pull off a few of them.

Sounds more like he is trying to hire coaches that recruit New York City well. Diallo isn't the first or the last recruit to come out of NYC. Pretty sure Mullin is looking for more than just one recruit.

Didn't ISU have a run of 5 straight games where they overcame double digit deficits? Every team had some wins they "had no business winning". At the end of the year you are what the results say you are. No sense wondering about the what if's. It will be interesting to see how both teams look next year and whether or not they are able to fill in the holes from last year without losing ground in other areas. Hogue will be a tough guy to replace, he was a scrapper that gave that team a level of toughness and determination that will be hard to replace. I am glad he's gone.

Iowa State doesn't lose near what KU does..and winning the Big 12 tournament last year had nothing to do with the terrible play against UAB..We did the same thing the previous year and made a run to the Sweet 16...You're a moron. .

Ummmm.

ISU:
Hogue: 11.6 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.0 apg
BDJ: 10.5 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.1 apg
Edozie: 1.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.1 apg
Custer: 1.1 ppg, 0.4 rpg, 0.7 apg

Total: 24.2ppg, 15.0 rpg, 3.9 apg

KU:
Oubre: 9.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 0.8 apg
Alexander: 7.1 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.4 apg
Garrett: 0.2 ppg, 0.2 rpg, 0.1 apg

Total: 16.6 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 1.3 apg

So, no. ISU doesn't lose near what Kansas loses. They lose much MORE than what Kansas loses.

ISU scores more points and had more possessions so your stats are not exactly that relevant here. Iowa State averaged 79 points per game. KU 71. So in that category, the loses in production are the same.
