Williams signed with Iowa State in the fall, but was let out of his National Letter of Intent last week, and now follows his lead recruiter, St. John’s assistant coach Matt Abdelmassih, to Queens.

Way to go, MA, kick Fred in the butt when you knew he will have the heart surgery soon.
 
I'm also in agreement that that it's comical that Williams wants to play for a guy that has "played at the highest level". Apparently he doesn't want to play for a guy that succeeded in the NBA after he was no longer a player.
 
Not to throw Fred under the bus but that's the second time we've heard this exact same thing when guys go elsewhere. DO we need a different pitch?
 
Amazing that two weeks ago a lot of people were hesitant to expect much from Williams coming off of surgery... Now that he decommited people are acting like he will be an all American day 1 at St. John's.

People need to relax... Hoiberg will bring in more talent..
 
Overreaction much? The kid wanted to play with MA. I Guarantee Fred knew that and figured he'd lose Williams when he gave the blessing for Matt to move on. MA was in Fred's wedding and I also guarantee is not going out of his way to screw Fred. He's just doing his job. That being said, it still sucks as a clone fan, but I don't think any part of this was malicious.

Think about this: Had TJ left town in 2010, we would have never had Melvin.
 
Surprised at the amount of people showing hate towards MA. It's a business and the guy has to do what he can. St. Johns loses a ton off a decent team this year and Williams is the only "big" they recruited. Can't necessarily say i blame people for feeling annoyed with MA, but im sure Otz is trying to recruit guys he was recruiting at Washington..

I hope Otz is going after BETTER talent than he was at Washington, just saying....ISU should be a much better sell for a much better player.

I dont understand why everyone is so put off by the situation. Fred and Matt are great friends and im sure Fred wasnt 100% on board with Williams leaving to follow Matt but he was ok enough with it with more conversations than we all know about it. We should take it as a blessing in disguise having faith in Fred and TJ in my opinion, just my 2 cents.

If MA was in Fred's wedding, then sure, Fred gave MA his blessing to go to StJ.

Matt wanted to go home, blessing or not, and now is on another team. It is comical how many of CF make the comments about MA so personal. Of course it is not malicious, but intent is irrelevant. By natutre of competition not being with us is being against us, recently manifesting in recruiting.

Except it was DW's decision, not MA's. But whatever.

The same people? And no one is acting like he will be an AA day 1 at St. John's.
