Bowl or Bust

2013 Big 12 T-7th 3-9
2014 Big 12 10th 2-10

What exactly are we waiting for? Everyone in the world can "see it."

The past is in the past. You really need to get over it.

In 2007 and 2008, we won a total of 5 games. In 2009, we went to Bowl game and won 7 games. So you are thinking we are going to a Bowl and winning that game in 2015?

Interesting that you do not take that attitude of "when I see it" before making predictions that "Cyclones will suck".

Shouldn't you wait..........and then see it.........before making those predictions?

It will be interesting to watch Stormin this fall and see acceptance that this team/coaching staff just might not be very good dawn on him gradually.

Your full-throated defense of a team that has won a total of 5 games in two seasons is reminiscent of Stockholm Syndrome

We played a total of two ranked teams out of 13 games in 2009, and a stroke of tremendous luck got us a two point win in a game where we got 8 turnovers. How could you compare 2009 to 2015?

You just got done telling someone to wait and see. I'm telling you the "wait and see" has already happened. I find it even funnier that you think CPR is such a great coach, while condemning Chizik for going 5-19.

Hey, can anyone help me out here? What's Iowa State's record for the past two years?

And everyone has been telling me it wasn't the easier schedule. They have said we won "with Chizik's players".

Both of those things are gone now, so either reason is not sufficient for using it to justify 2015. What's your reason?

I am predicting 4-6 wins. I base that on the new players we have that will be playing this year. Much better prospects and depth for the Defensive Line, especially the DT's. Jordan Harris at MLB, he has moved to No. 1 on the Depth Chart. Lots of players coming back from injuries that missed major parts of last year and in many cases the whole season. A Sr. QB and returning starter who seems to have some talent. Sheer numbers of players on the Offensive Line that have starting experience. Many were injured last year. And the further development of Lazard and Montgomery along with the return from injury by Bundrage at WR. Plus, I am enthused by our young RB's, especially Mike Warren.

This is not the same team as last year. Not even close. Lots of players lost to injuries that did not play. And several players that RS last year that will be playing this year. When you have returning starters moving down the depth chart and replaced there should be improvement.

So let's say we hit the low end of that. 4-8 season. Would you want Paul Rhoads at the helm in 2016?

Depends on who those 4 wins come against. If we start off 4-0, but lose the final 8 in a row there will be little hope for next season. If however, he is somehow able to knock off Oklahoma or close the the season winning 3 of the last 5 that could be considered progress.

That would mean they would start off the season 1-6.

Let's say we lose 4 starters off of our O-Line and 3 starters off our D-Line. And lose Lazard and Bundrage for example. Along with 3 LB's. Lose a couple RB's. And lose SR at QB. And lose a few players from our secondary as well. Should that be considered or not? And it would also depend whether the losses were really close or not.

IMO, 4 wins is going to put Pollard between a rock and a hard spot. CPR could very likely be asked to resign......Much like DMac was. And if that decision is made, I will support it. And support the next coach.

Injuries happen to all teams, losses are losses, there's no such thing as a moral victory just because we kept it close.

Sure they do. But extensive injuries on a large scale might factor into Pollard's decision. But it is his call to make.

Funny thing... if you WAIT AND SEE then technically what you just SAW is in the past. So yes the past is the past, but that's what I'm saying. There's been all sorts of hype coming out of CPR's mouth in previous seasons and the results haven't backed it up. Simple as that. Blind hope is ridiculous at this point.

I have explained my reasons for 4-6 wins predicted. It is not blind hope.

You are thinking 7 wins by the Hawkeyes. Your DT situation is as bad as ours was last year. Your LB situation is worse. You have no real replacement for Scherf. You have only one real threat at WR. And CJ Beathard, who loves to scramble, is your only option at QB.

Gulp. Gulp. Gulp. That kool-aid. You could only win 7 games with last year's line-up. And you think THIS Hawkeye team will equal that? LOL.

So let me get this straight... I'm trying to wrap my head around your warped way of thinking. In the previous two seasons the Hawks have won 8 and 7 games. They have another easy schedule this season, and in my opinion a better QB, so I don't think it's crazy at all to guess they could win 7. Previous results prove that's entirely possible. However, you believe I'm gulping Kool-Aid in making that prediction.

On the flip side, the Cyclones have had win totals of 3 and 2 the previous two seasons but you don't view your prediction of 4-6 wins as blind hope. :wideeyed:

Have you seen Iowa's schedule this year?

You think Iowa State could go 6-6 this year and you're mocking someone as a Kool-Aid drinker for expecting a 7-5 season against a Charmin-soft schedule.

CJ Beathard played behind Rudock and does not have as good of ratings or stats. So WHAT basis do you have that he is a better QB?

You lost 2 stud DT's and the replacements for them are inexperienced and do not show the type of talent or potential that the departing DT's had. You lost a 1st round Draft Pick from your Offensive Line. You lost your career leading WR K-Martin Manley. The replacements you have are a serious downgrade from last year. Yet you think they will equal last year's record???

Teams get better or worse in terms of what they lost and what they gained from the previous year. The Cyclones look to be improved. The Hawkeyes do not.

Do you have the Hawkeyes beating the Cyclones in Jack Trice?
