Otz is back

Maybe he can help us sneak in and take Ellenson in a year after he gets sick of Marquette like everyone else does.

So Brackins and some 3* guys? Those are solid players but its not like he is landing blue chip recruits or a caliber of player better than what we landed without him. The only difference is the guys he brought in didn't translate to any success on the court as a team. To me, this is a very humbling and underwhelming hire but Fred knows what hes doing. I just dont' get the rep he has a great recruiter, when you look at it, the guys he brought in were the type of guys ISU has always gotten.

Otz already has been credited with bringing in a couple of our transfers (Clyburn, Christophersen, etc) so we know we are bringing in someone who knows how to continue the transfer pipeline without Abdelmassih. And this reopens out Wisconsin connections. I hope he brings some new west coast ties too.

The "In before" comments are starting to be more annoying than the "connect the dots" posters.
...and the comments complaining about those using "Inb4" that are poking fun at segment of our fan base are REALLY starting to be more annoying than everyone.

Let's not forget he brought in the second best high school recruit we've ever had so I definitely approve of this move.

People fail to realize that McDermott HAD some talent in his years here. He just did a crap job of keeping it here and getting it to play together.

Look at the lineup for McDs last year:
PG Diante Garrett
SG Scotty C
SF Gilstrap
PF Brackins
C Justin Hamilton

Bench: Vanderbeken, Dendy, Bubu, Colvin, Buckley

Fred could have won a game or more in the NCAA tournament with that team and GMac finished 15-17 and half the team left.

ATTENTION:

@TravisHines21: T.J. Otzelberger says he’s removed himself from consideration from head coaching jobs.

@AlexHalsted: T.J. Otzelberger: "I have removed my name from consideration of some other opportunities." Said Iowa State fits him better.

Do you know what all those guys who didn't have a lot of success on the court had in common?

I'll give you a couple of guesses.

His nickname sounds like Big Mac.

He looks like a wookie.

Good.. Good.

@AlexHalsted: Otzelberger: "Although I aspire to be a head coach at some point, I'm not at a point where it has to be tomorrow." #Cyclones

@CycloneMBB: "I have a lot of passion for Iowa State. It was an opportunity to come home." - T.J. Otzelberger

@AlexHalsted: Fred Hoiberg reached out to T.J. Otzelberger yesterday morning. The process unfolded very quickly after. #Cyclones

Flight track needs to be Washington to Ames, Ames to Bentonville, Bentonville to NYC, NYC to Flint, back to Ames.

Ya the Diallo ship might have sailed (in a non-nut cup way thankfully) so might be best to just focus on the next big fish.

@MurphyKeith: The Otzelberger hire should ease concerns, if there are any, that Hoiberg is about to bolt. Doubt he'd uproot friend for blindside exit.
