Well, I gotta say this. In the last hour a KU fan and a Hawk fan I didn't know came up to me and each engaged me in a conversation about the great things happening with ISU basketball just because of my ISU shirt. KU fan super knowledgeable about ISU, watches all our games. Said KSU game was the reason they got #11 and felt we blew it. Very very complimentary. So, there are some good ones. Beware, cats and dogs soon to be getting along, mass hysteria to follow.
I agree with the poster who said don't let message board idiots fool you. Almost all of the KU fans I've spoken to over the past 4 years in KC or in Lawrence when attending basketball or football games have been great, and are very complimentary of ISU. They think it's good for the conference for us to be good again. One fan bought my group several rounds of drinks in P&L after the game.
In regards to another discussion in this thread, the event in KC is officially called "The Big 12 Championship." Not the Big 12 Tournament.
There was a guy with a microphone near the Sprint Center entrance, welcoming people to the Big 12 tournament. An official came over and corrected him, to make sure he got the event name correct.

It's like when the kid brother who always got beat up on by his older brother but then the younger brother hits puberty and gets a growth spurt and all of a sudden the kid brother is looking his older brother in the eye and going toe to toe with him. It can be hard for that older brother to relinquish control of his top spot on the food chain. The culture of the big 12 is changing and it isn't just ISU coming for Selfie and the whiners. Fred has Bill Selfs number and man does it stick in their craw. I love it. Let the Jayhawk era end and the Cyclone era begin! Go Clones!
I will say this. I don't think they are all bad or even the majority of them are bad, but I don't think they are great either. Two kids who I went to high school with now go to KU. Neither one is a big sports person, but they post more about KU basketball than I do about Iowa State. I'm known by my friends as the person that knows most things about sports. I struggle with the it's just internet people when the few KU fans I know in person are just as arrogant.
Our fans were way better last night. Every time a KU chant started it was soon drowned out by cardinal and gold. Hilton South is 100% accurate.
Most reasonable KU fans are decent. When asked if KU fans will be rooting for ISU, typical comments are along the lines of 'yes, Fred is a stud', 'why hate when they are such a good team', 'we need the Big 12 to win as much as possible to make us ALL look good', and 'why would I want a team that beat us twice to go down to some podunk Cinderella", etc.
I tend to ignore the more emotional statements from both sides. Being a bit fanatical is why we are called fans! As long no one turns into Mizzory-type fans, all is cool.
Why are KU fans obsessed with wearing KU basketball jerseys and why are they obsessed with wearing them over long sleeve button up dress shirts?
I had a KU fan try to tell me that the Sprint Center wasn't Hilton South, it was Allen Fieldhouse East. I thought it was hilarious.
This should be common ground between ISU and KU fans. Bowlsby and his minions are all ***clowns.
It's just the worst of the worst congregate on the internet or in the taverns, and it's really fun to mock them. That being said, most on both sides are reasonable. A KU grad and complete stranger that works at the place I work at here in Warren (Detroit suburb). And then my best friend is a Hawk fan, and, other than the days leading up to a Cy-Hawk game day where he becomes a total ***, he cheers for ISU about as rabidly as we do.
Total 'cool story bro' story here I know but....nearly got into a fight with a KU fan down at a bar down in Cabo the night of the KSU game. Idiot kept telling me ISU would give anything to have Bill Self. When I told him he was crazy, we'd never get rid of Fred he kept telling me "oh, you like getting second?" Needless to say I was drunk enough that my buddy started laughing and dragged me away from the bar before I nearly split his head open.
So yeah, not a huge fan of KU people. The win Saturday was a sweet one.

On KU's Scout board, there is a post titled "call your final four". Nearly a third are putting Iowa State in their final four. (Way fewer, than a third, are placing KU in their final four.)
