Is she to dominate? She just won in 14 seconds. Her last 3 title fight have lasted right around 1 minute and 30 seconds. How can the ufc keep expecting people to buy pay per views with no compatition for her?

Unless someone else comes along she won't be able to headine a pay per view. Pretty sure tonight was supposed to be a co headliner but somebody got hurt

I watched it live, her opponent has done a similar move in previous fights and during the prefight they showed clips of her doing that roll and a couple of them said that she'd be in trouble if she tried that against Rousey.

So what happens? She does it coming out of the gate and gets herself in trouble.

I don't watch MMA much (barely) but why are people acting like Rousey is the first big women's MMA star? I thought Gina Carano already was the big attraction a few years back. I know she got blasted by that Cyborg girl but I don't understand why the media is focusing on Rousey as being the first attractive badass fighter.

Anyone?

I don't think anyone has said she's the first, just that she's by far the best. She's so dominant in the women's division that people don't even talk about her fighting other women anymore. If she's talked about in the media, it's generally asking whether or not she could beat some guy.

OK thanks.

She is basically Mike Tyson in his early year. She just destroys people. Carrano was good and good looking. Rousey is semi attractive but a total bad *** girl.

Carano wasn't as dominant and didn't fight in the UFC, that's why Rousey is such a bigger star. She's on the biggest MMA stage destroying people and she's using that success to get into movies and raise her profile even more. Her armbar is lethal and her throwing ability to get people on the ground to set up the armbar is basically unstoppable.

Zingano's strategy to go right at Rousey and get locked up with her and into a scramble situation was idiotic. The key to beating a fighter like Rousey will be to keep the fight off the ground and make it more of a striking match and try to take it into the later rounds and hope she gasses out.

To me there's some interest in seeing how long someone that dominant can keep their reign perfect...but at the same time 14 seconds is pretty short for a hyped fight. At least it's not like the Kentucky Derby where an entire year's worth of hype is guaranteed to only be a short thing, there's at least a chance of a longer engaging fight.

I don't know if they'll every try matches against men...if it didn't go well it might be a bad pr image for the sport even in these times (although if it went very well think Mone Davis x100). I've heard them talk about her going up in weight but what's the point in that knowing even if she lost a weight disadvantage was involved.

they won't ever do a man v woman fight. It would be considered "barbaric" and would be an absolutely terrible PR move for UFC. Also, a low level male UFC fighter would beat her ***. Like most sports, there's just a totally different class of athletic ability and strength separating the men and the women.

On the whole, I probably agree, but not 100%. Rousey's judo, which is world class, and submissions could beat a lot of people stronger and more athletic. Remember back when MMA was first starting. There were no weight classes and hardly any rules. The best fighter in the world, by far, was Royce Gracie. Gracie was far from the strongest or most athletic. He would take a lot of punishment, but the dude could submit anyone, from any position.

I think Rousey could do the same to men in her weight class. I really do.

Rousey is butt ugly.

Rousey could beat a man easily. Not one that has made it to the ufc though. Those guys are total bad *****. If the lower level ufc guys are bad men. She is rrally strong for a women. However the ufc guys are incredibly strong. Btw she would be in Jose Aldos class. That division is stacked.
