Brent Blum sent out an interesting tweet this morning. Iowa State's win over Okie St. was only the 11th time in school history they have beat a ranked foe on the road. That number seems low, but does anyone know how many of those 11 wins have came under Hoiberg?

For some reason I don't think OSU was ranked last year when we beat them in Stillwater. Could be wrong

K State wasn't ranked that year. Clones beat em 65-61.

Really hard to fatham that Floyd, Eustachy and Orr only managed 8 road wins between the three of them....

I think McDermott only had one...

That game at the end of the last McDormat season when we somehow beat a really good K-St. team in Manhatten. Besides that, I doubt anything else during those dark days.

If I remember correctly, Brackins fouled out in regulation and the game was won in overtime. Really incredible.

I think I listened to Steve Deace way back and he had a countdown of the last time we even won on the road period in conference at some point. Not sure why we have such an issue with this.

In Floyd's 4 years we only played 7 ranked road teams, and 4 of them were Kansas. He went 0-7 on the road against ranked teams.

In Eustachy's 5 years weplayed 13 games against ranked teams on the road, but 9 of those were in the last 2 years when we were horrible. He went 2-11 on the road against ranked teams.

In Hoiberg's almost-5 years we've played 16 ranked teams on the road, winning 3.

Wasn't Iowa just outside the rankings when we spanked them too? Then ranked a few weeks later?

It is certainly good perspective. We are forgetting how hard it is to be ranked after over a year and a half straight in the rankings and with the big 12 with so many ranked this year. Puts in perspective how crazy hard our road schedule is this year. I remember the days when we would count on getting most home wins and hope we didn't lose more than 1 or 2 and would beat nebraska or Colorado because we had no chance vs. Any other conference foe on the road. A .500 conference record was good under Orr in the old Big 8. Most of those sure losses wern't ranked either. Eustachy and Floyd won more on the road but his style also made Hilton not nearly as crazy. Hoiberg, just as he said he would when he was hired has struck the right balance.

Have to remember that during the Floyd and Eustachy times the conference, despite being larger, was not that deep in ranked teams. We didn't even always get the top half of the league into the NCAAs. Few opportunities to get wins against ranked teams and still hard to do.

Any info on who was the highest ranked conference team we beat on the road and when?
