With Cubs Alfonso Soriano injuring his calf last night I am very interested to see how they will adjust the line-up. Who do you think they will bat lead off? I've always thought that Fukudome (sp?) would be interesting leading off.

Theriot will probably lead off, but it would be cool to see Fukudome up there.

At this point I haven't seen anything on how long Soriano will be out.

I would think that it would go Theriot and then Johnson. I wonder if Pie may get a chance to work into the lead off spot.

No way Pie goes into the leadoff spot. It wouldn't surprise me to see him back in Iowa at some point in the season. He hits the crap out of the ball down here but can't seem to get it done at the plate with the big boys.

He defense is great however. Good play last night at the wall.

If Soriano is out any length of time I hope they don't waste time and just DL him for 15 days and bring Murton up since the OF is not exactly deep with players at the moment. Murt is hitting .294 with a .442 OBP and just 3 k's but no extra base hits right now for Iowa. He's been about a .300 hitter in the bigs, may not have the best glove but he's adequate and has been a good on-base hitter.

Reed Johnson has been fine in CF, Pie is so frustrating to watch. He k'd 3 times last night and some of the pitches he swung at were not even close to a strike. I'm worried that he's the 2nd coming of Corey Patterson actually.

Soriano out (day to day) The-Riot will be leading off most likely
then Johnson/ Fontenot with the standard rotation afterwards of
3.Lee
4.Rameriz
5.Fukudome
6.DeRosa
7.Pie/ player to be mentioned
8.Soto
9.Pitcher

This is how I figured it will be

I am not really that concerned. We are 8-5 with Soriano pretty much doing nothing.

I'm not terribly worried either. Although he can often go on a great hitting streak. I really don't think he is patient enough at the plate and strikes out too much to be an effective lead off guy. He's a great arm in the outfield though.

Soriano on the DL, Patterson called up. It's kind of ironic with Brother Cory on the Reds.

flip those and you're probably right

I put Pie there because Soto can always hit and bring him in. Once you have speed on the bases, and then you have a person that can hit, a single can put the runner on third or home. Thats why speed then hitter

Hopefully Soriano will bat 5th when he comes back, where he belongs, and Fukudome can be in the two spot. Better for him too.
