Georges should be in the running after his two performances this week. Monte had a good week as well. Who else might be in the running this week around the Big 12?

15 pts 7 reb against Tech. Would need another good showing today, unless you were referring to Player of Year, not Player of Week.

Tech was last weekend. Shouldn't the award be based on the Texas and TCU games?

Looking at the teams that won out this week (assuming OU wins tonight) I came up with the top performers of those 4 teams:

Averages this week (Points, rebounds, assists)

Williams (WVU): 13/8.5/0.5

Ellis (Kansas): 12/8.5/2.5

Spangler (Oklahoma):20/4/1 (still to play tonight)

Niang (Iowa State): 21/5/3

Hard to vote against Niang, but what do I know.

Doesn't hurt that the TX and TCU coaches raved about Georges.

Niang hasn't even been the best player on his own team. That has far and away been Monte Morris.

Niang had a very good 2nd half, but he's been too inconsistent throughout the conference season. He has time to turn it around, but it starts by handling the ball and shooting the ball from the outside less, and pounding the paint. Yes, there are games when he is on from 3 and hit 4-5, but I'd much rather see a box score like today's where he shoots 2 and has most of his shots from near the paint. That's where he's the most effective.

It will have to be an Iowa State player, because ISU takes no prisoners. Our players will be the only ones left in the Big 12.
