Man, apparently giving someone your "word" these days means nothing... things are getting worse and worse in college football recruiting every year. They really should just let / make recruits sign immediately instead of during a "signing period" and then hold them accountable to said contract.
As accountable as coaches, who bail for a better offer the second they can?
We don't like this because it's bad new for us, but it's no indication of a character problem in the young guy. He got a better offer and took it, just like everyone else.
Lol at people complaining about players "not keeping their word". If we flipped someone from another school, those same would be extremely happy

These kids can do whatever they want but I'm really coming around to not blaming coaches for telling guys they don't have room anymore. That's what stuff like this will come to. It has to. I would like to know how many kids switch verbals at some point. I bet it's over 25%. Spare me the "coaches are adults" argument too.
There simply needs to a an early signing day. Maybe two of them. One in August and on in December. Tie both ends up. "Commitments" are a joke. They tie a coaching stuff up and there's no tie up for the kid. Again, the kids can do whatever, but it makes it really hard on the mid and lower tier schools.
