I see they have played well recently, but wondering if anyone has more information on Strengths/Weaknesses and how we match up with them. Think everyone agrees this will be a tougher game than we originally thought when we first scheduled the game.

Here is their season so far. They have played decently well against two Big 12 teams, losing to Baylor by four and blowing out Oklahoma State by 26.

They blew out Oky State by 26 a few weeks ago and, like all Frank Martin teams, they are incredibly physical. Thankfully, we have Endozie and McKay for added depth down low. Gonna be a whole lotta foulin goin on in this game!

Don't mean to overstate the obvious, but I'm concerned about the next 2-weeks with an opening schedule that includes these road games:

1/03: South Carolina. neutral site
1/10: @ #17 W VA
1/14: @ #22 Bay.

With a home win over OSU on 1/06, I'd be satisfied coming out of this 3-1 for the 1/17 Kansas game.

Anyone know Frank Martin's record against ISU when he was doing his antics at KSU? I am sure it was pretty good since it was prolly during the McDoor-mat years.

I think it does matters, Mark Turgeon did not lose once to ISU when he was at TAM, and he is still undefeated against ISU. Certain coaches know how to beat certain teams.

Martin's and Turgeon's records against McDermott would have no impact on them vs. Hoiberg. I don't think certain coaches do better against certain schools just because of the name on the jersey.

In my eyes, we need to emerge from these next 5 games at least 4-1, since we haven't proven anything yet.

If we don't, the perception among folks that need a better one will be that we're a paper tiger who feasted on a crap schedule. It's tough to be taken seriously once that happens, and the perception may as well be reality, because the decision makers will view it that way.

I think I agree with this that if we want to prove we deserve a Top 15 ranking, we need to go 4-1 from here through the Kansas game on 1/17.

If we manage to go 5-0, then we are starting to show we deserve that #9 ranking.

It's concerning to think about how good the team was last year, and then realize they only put up a 3-6 record in Big 12 road games (with one of those three wins taking 3OT's to pull off).

Gotta shoot better from the free throw line, and be prepared to play against the zone. I think this game will be similar to the Maryland game, low scoring but we hit our open looks to win this one by 8

This is how I feel about it, the style of play and talent is so different here now then when McD was here.

We should beat Baylor but I can easily see us losing to WVU. Baylor is not the #22 team in the nation. They have Kenny Cherry and that's it.

Absolutely need to split the WVU and Baylor games if you want to contend for a Big 12 title. The rest of January ain't that tough. Need to go into February with 2 losses at the most.

I don't know anything about them, but I assume they have a few Hispanic players and they will hammer us 900 times, because you can't call all 900 fouls.

I'm not sure about Hispanic players but he has two Lithuanians

They had 2 bad losses early in the year, and have improved since then. That being said they are a bubble team at best, and probably an NIT team. Will be a battle of ISU's high powered offense vs. SC highly rated defense and SC's mediocre offense vs ISU's not that great, but improving defense.

I bet the spread is something like ISU -4, and we end up winning by double digits.
