Am I the only one?

Is it sad that I read the thread title and instantly thought of this?

As a kid growing up in an era where newspapers still rocked (1960s) it is sad for me to see what has happened to the Register and Gazette. Everyday at study hall in Manchester I'd be in the library reading both of them and whatever news magazines were there. Back in the day the Register had a fine national reputation. When I return to Iowa for visits these days the paper isn't even really worth purchasing. When I do grab one, it's like "where's the rest of the paper?"

With that said, I am lucky enough to still be able to subscribe to a decent paper up north here. The Strib has had it's ups and downs (IMHO it's currently UP) and it's still something I want to subscribe to even in the big old digital age.

I routinely made the Des Moines Register available to my business clients and subscribed on a personal basis for years. However, we dropped our business subscription due to the paper’s “sickening liberal bias.â€￾ On a personal basis, we’ve dropped all but the Sunday paper due to their obvious “University of Iowa sports bias.â€￾ Fortunately, the state of Iowa is undergoing a sporting paradigm shift due largely to our own CFH. Economics have a way of bringing about change. So, I assume we will see a more balanced shift in favor of ISU sooner or later. As an Iowa paper, they need to support all their readers, not just the leftwing lunatics and University of Iowa!

Hey loyal readers,

Due to the context of recent opinions, I have a sneaking suspicion that I may be transferred in the near future. Please follow me to my new home... The Cave.

Sincerely,

Why must it always come to politics?

It was a simple statement of fact, nothing more. These are elements which over the ages have been inextricably conjoined and interwoven into the fabric of our society. They are strands of perspective that form an integral whole which cannot be denoted or separated into single constituent.

It also encourages close-minded thinking when there are only two options on the table.

The Des Moines Register is a bunch of whining Hawk fans from what I can tell. Am I the only one who thinks that almost every post is a disguised slight to Iowa State? Their "Cyclone fever ignites" video is more of a sore loser review of the season. The only word that comes to mind to describe them is d#)*#bags. I have them on my facebook feed and they seem to **** me off with every post. Am I the only one who thinks this?

No, my thoughts exactly and I know I've mentioned this before as well. If a person didn't read the box score the Squawks would be winning every time and I mean every time. I only look at the paper maybe at HyVee or somewhere when the Cyclones beat them and enjoy how they try and spin it, an upset, too many fouls on them, just an off shooting night, and the list goes on. Not to mention the negative pictures of our team. Randy Pertersen needs to retire sooner than later. The good news in this? CFH!!!

It wasn't a simple statement of fact, it was your opinion, nothing more.
