Emery better be on the way out as well. I know a lot of people want Cutler gone, but I'm not sure the Bears can do any better for 2015. Id stick with him for one more year with a new staff, see how he does, and go after some of the crop of free agents that will be available in 2016 if he sucks again.

a year isn't going to do anything for Cutler. he is who he is, who he is. Another coach isn't going to do anything but make him learn a new system, which will have a learning curve, which will result in a lot of the same inconsistencies we're seeing right now. I'm not a Bears fan, but I've been one who has believed for the longest time, that Cutler was getting a raw deal by Chicago media and fans, but after this year, he's lost me. I don't think he's ever going to get it done in Chicago, and probably not anywhere else, either.

Bears fans need to be careful what they wish for. Cutler, although over paid, is NOT A BAD QB.

As a Vikes fan I would love it if they traded Cutler just so I could watch them scramble for years trying to find a new QB. Do Bears fans REALLY think a QB not named, Manning/Brees/Rodgers/Brady/Luck would do better behind that o-line?

I've never been less interested in the Bears or the NFL than I am this year. I used to cut Jay slack, but he just flat out sucks. I will probably not follow the Bears again until he's gone.

Cutler has above average talent with below average decision making skills, making him an average NFL QB. I'm on board with keeping him because who else would the Bears get that is better? Unless you want to rebuild.

Cutler makes mistakes but gets more blame than he deserves. The Oline has been a mess this year and the Bears have had a bottom 3 defense for the past 2 years. Neither of those will make your QB or offense look good.

Trestman has to be fired. He was brought in as an offensive guru and the offense has been a joke.

The Bears are in a dangerous position now, because the team isn't working, but if they blow it up and start over, they're staring up at a deep Packers squad with an elite QB, a very talented Lions team that's finally put it all together, and a young Vikings team with a rookie QB who will only be improving. Chicago could be in the cellar of the NFC North for the next few years at least.

except this year, he kind of is. He's bottom half of the league using either the traditional qb rating system or ESPN's total QBR metric. Leads the league in interceptions. Bad on 3rd down, etc. etc. etc. And this is a guy who is getting paid (including signing bonus) more money than anyone else in the league, this year. That's just unacceptable by any standard. I give him a pass for his attitude, because I've heard nothing to indicate that his teammates don't like him, or he's bad in the locker room. He's got an adversarial relationship with the media, but I think that's as much the Chicago media's fault as his. It's all about on the field stuff for me. And he is severely lacking for a 9 year vet.

Exactly. Sure Cutler has made some bad decisions but good grief, he has absolutely no defense to support him when those mistakes are made and the o-line is below average at best. You don't get rid of him just to appease the loud whiners who can't see how horrible it would be trying to bring in some other newbie to try and stop the bleeding.

Agreed. This year has not been good for him. That does not make me want the Bears to cut him and try to pay off his crazy expensive contract. This year is a low-mark for him, not the norm.

He is still better then the alternative for next year ($38 Million dead money, starting a below average or rookie QB).

Surprised Ownership will open up the purse strings to pay the buyout. It is what needs to happen though, I don't believe there is any coming back from this for him.

That said, outside of head coach the Bears have a myriad of problems up and down the whole organization, not sure a new coach is going to have better luck. I believe the family has figured out that being average gets them their best pay day, and will never strive to be a great franchise. Super happy I chose the Cowboys as a young lad.

Trestman, get your **** and get out!

A horrible fit for Chicago, the Bears and American football in general. I haven't seen the Bears this bad since Mike Phipps was lining up under center.

Not a Bears fan either but lived there from '02 and '13 and bombarded by 24/7 Bears media. This is how it is and was. When they got Cutler they actually had weekly "happy Jay Cutler day" segments on radio shows, it was a true celebration. Then he was turned villain for team issues out of his control, now he really is a big part of the problem but a this point what does it matter.

Playing and coaching for the Bears is one of the more high pressure gigs in sports. With some personalities it doesn't matter, with some it is going to matter a lot. Lovie was actually a great fit for dealing with the completely gonzo media and public in that city.

It doesn't matter who is behind center if the o-line can't block anyone. Start there first.
The oline is really stodgy and weak. They are not pro players. They are more like college all stars that need to get to the weightroom.

but scraping together another 5-7 win season next year doesn't get them any closer to getting that franchise QB anyway. They need to absolutely tank for a year and get a top 5 pick if they want to nab one of the big QB prospects in the draft. Or maybe keep Cutler one more year, and trade back in the draft to grab a 2nd tier guy like Brett Hundley in this coming draft.

I feel bad for a first round QB the Bears might take given the history of the position there.

The past couple years, the OL has been the biggest issue on Offense. Their rushing has been horrible the past couple of seasons, and the OL is the problem with that.

I don't llike Jay Cutler's attitude as well, but for the longest time, they have not been able to put in a decent QB who could run the offense. Cutler is the best they have had since the Bears won the Super Bowl. If they are going to get rid of Cutler, they had better be committed with what ever QB they place in to his role so they don't do the QB carousal for a decade or two.

Defense just sucks period. Need to improve all over the board there, including on the coaching side of the defense.

As for Trestman, I am not a huge fan of firing head coaches after 2 years. Give him the opportunity to get the type of players he needs to run his system. If things don't improve after year 4, then can him.

Christmas is coming early if Trestman is fired. The disfunction and disorganization I've seen on the Bears this season is on him. Yes, Cutler is an issue, however the defense and special teams have been worse.
