I'm not sure how many of the extra minues from BDJ being out will be allocated his way but this is a good chance for him to show what he's got.

Can we do away with thread titles that are only the players name. I just assume it is bad news at this point.

I agree that this is a huge opportunity for Nader to step up. But it is also a big opportunity for Hogue to return as a major force on the boards. In fact, I can't think of anything more key to our success tomorrow night. Losing BDJ's rebounds is going to hurt, especially with Iowa's length. ISU needs Hogue to be a major force.

Of course, a great performance by Nader wouldn't hurt.

I am looking forward to this game. With every problem, and opportunity opens up. This is going to be interesting. Go Nader!

I think he is just starting to feel his groove and where he fits. Hope he can start hitting some outside shots but man he is thicker than I thought and think he could really bruise around and have his way in the paint. That is if he can do so without fouling.

during season - generally not good, but sometimes good
during offseason - WILD OPTIMISM about the potential of the person whose name is the thread title

Look for a lot of "Hallice Cooke" titled threads next summer.

I don't trust SmellyTP. Every thread he starts appears "safe" but has the potential to become explosive. I think he's a masterful troll.

Seems like people only mention negatives when it comes to Nader but he does some things really well. If we are going to see full court pressure Nader could be big, he handles the ball like a guard. I like his game, I don't think he has to score to be effective. I think once he doesn't have to play out of position he'll really find his groove. He's more of a natural 3, not a 3/4 hybrid like Hogue. Right now he's almost exclusively being used as a 4.

I don't know...

If I see an Allen Lazard thread this offseason - at least prior to camp - I'm going into meltdown mode.

I agree with a lot of posters saying he needs to have a big game tonight for ISU to win. He will play a lot tonight and I wouldn't be surprised if he starts.

I'm looking for this explosion of offense from Matt Thomas we've been hearing about all fall. Be nice to see him hit a few more 3's tonight.

0-3 in 23 minutes last game, and only 1-2 against Arkansas makes me a bit fearful he may be having some confidence issues again.

I just really hope that part of our high horse fan base doesn't bash him the same way they bashed BDJ. Cooke doesn't have the baggage and seems like a solid kid, so that should hopefully help.

Why do people call him "abdul" when is spelled Abdel?

Perhaps since he was born in Egypt his name was actually first spelled in Arabic and Abdel is just an attempt at a translation for his name from arabic letters. If his parents first translated it poorly and it stuck he would have a spelling that doesn't correspond with the pronounciation. But spelling not corresponding to pronounciation is not an uncommon thing for names in America anymore -- even those of native English speakers.
