Dejean Jones

Because they power tripped over a loud stereo. Same thing happened to Nealy last spring.

So they're just supposed to ignore the fact other people in the building are probably trying to sleep, and let BDJ blare his music as loud as wants? With finals coming up? Ok idiot.

Suspend him indefinitely so he can work it out with the legal system. If there's more clarity in the situation then allow him back in January or so. But you've got to make a point to the kid if he's been given this many opportunities and still didn't care. 1 or 2 games isn't going to do that.

If they found a little weed on a dresser that's not "making up a drug charge" they could have hit him with a stiffer punishment. If it smelled like burnt weed than they likely found a roach somewhere and no one would admit it was there's so they charged the home owner. That's what happens when you have ****** friends who won't man up.

I guess I missed the part where anyone was charged with possession? Has it been verified the premises were searched? I would think we would have seen something like:

"Police searched the apartment and found X, Y, & Z". Unless the cops are just leaving that out of the police report? I would find that highly unlikely and if they did it's even more reason why the charge won't stick.

There's also the possibility they chose to charge it as a lesser crime as it was his first time. My guess is they found a little bit of weed, didn't want to see the kid rot or anything but had reached a point where enough was enough and they had to do their job.

That's not up to the police on the scene.

Of course they are. According to many, Iowa State athletes are above everyone and above the law. There are people that would probably defend and justify murder if it was done by an athlete.

who are his roommates? it seems logical that he would live with other players.

perhaps instead of accusing the cops of making up charges, you should be thankful that no one else was charged.

If they keep getting calls they have to do something. If you wanna be ****** take it out on BDJ. He's the effin moron here.

A vast majority of people would be shocked at the percentage of basketball players that smoke weed.

First hand experience being around some of the parties can tell you its just a hard culture to escape.

Some guys from inner cities and bad environments
treat or like eating drinking almost. Even some of the cleanest looking dudes will smoke.

Hopefully this is actually minor and he's only out a handful of games. It certainly doesn't look good for tomorrow.

and white middle/upper class kids, and well-to-do business people and respectable community leaders, and sweet old grandparents, etc. Point is, there are so many people that use marijuana that you'd never expect. It's not a big deal to use it- hopefully Iowa and the rest of the states catch up to that. Not wanting to turn this thread into a legalization argument, but I hope BDJ was just at a place where pot was, and he was not caught using it himself. If that's the case, I don't see any need for missed games.

The cops called in the complaints too I suppose?

5 times and the most recent at 3 AM in an apt complex?

Some people need to learn that this isn't their world and the rest of us are simply living in it....

Time to throw on the "I can't breathe" warmups and pull out the card. Because its obvious the kid has anxiety issues and the police were targeting him. But all kidding aside it's simply gathering where a know illegal substance is being used or consumed so not much different than hosting a party and getting contributing to a minor....even if you didn't supply it. However it's hard to imagine having your name on the rental lease then thinking your invincible so unless he has a fall guy (ie..see Carmelo Anthony and "roommates") then your just not that bright. So to steal a line from Tom Cruise in Risky Business "looks like the University of Illinois..er...D-League"

I'm starting to be convinced that if the cops found a dead body on the floor of his place and BDJ had a bloody knife in his hands some of you would try to claim he was just trying to help clean up.

My god. He was an idiot. Many athletes are idiots. He'll be punished as he deserves to be. Don't make yourselves look stupid by blaming this one on the Ames PD. It actually sounds like they've been going out of their way to try to keep him out of trouble.

There seems to be a spectrum ranging from people who think he gets off Scott free to people acting like he is never coming back. If a DUI is a 2 game suspension, then this is probably a game to 3 max i would think.
