Heavy Handed?

Because some of us choose to?

Because some of us do not limit our opinions, and our expressions of those opinions, to what you view is allowable?

Because some of us are not willing to extend to you that sort of authority over what we view is or is not ISU-related?

Ok... if you want to argue this, then start a new thread and argue this.

But for the people that want to discuss the original topic of this thread, please let us do it.

Until then, I'm sorry but this is all I'm seeing and reading from you.

Look at the head of the thread. The topic is "Pollard Heavy Handed?"

This was my point CyValley. Thank you Aclone for making it clearer. Apparently he just wants to fight now.

I believe he did and LE was not honest. Also I believe there was more to it than just pictures. You cannot just fire someone who has a 10 year guaranteed contract at $1 million a year unlesss you have cause. Why did LE wait untill April when he was fired to tell everyone he was an alcoholic?

Ummm...because that's when the Rag printed the pictures?

I appreciated that Eustachy didn't try to make it an excuse, until he had faced his problems and recognized it as a reason. And the "cause" was the morals portion of his contract. Note that he didn't walk away penniless.

What are you saying, Aclone, that "heavy handed" is not an open enough term to include various possible motivations for his heavy-handedness?

If some argue that Pollard was heavy handed in his dismissal of Morgan, then it follows (imo) that racism conceivably could be a reason for such heavy handedness and is a fair topic of discussion in the thread.

(I don't think for a minute that racism was involved in Morgan's firing, but I'll make no attempt to limit others' expression of that thought if they have it. I don't wish to have that sort of control over others.).

Okay, back to the topic, "Does GMAc connect well with his players?"

I think he does. I think Pollard is great at finding and hiring those people who would best represent the university. He wants genuine folks who dont make excuses and try their hardest to win and mold young men and women in to quality individuals.

From my understanding from people I know, LE also partied down at several other schools. I heard about the KSU one personaly from a guy that was there.

LE had a problem but he didn't have to admit it till everyone found out. There was no pressure on him to do so.

I think football will be fine. I hope the best for McD. I think JP legacy will tarnished more by a bad basketball team then football. Since people still consider us more of a basketball school.

Then please start a thread for it in the appropriate area. Then all of you can argue about it there, instead of hijacking a thread.

Where are the mods?
This thread is started, and I do not see why the area in which it started is not appropriate. But, as it is for you, it is not my call. It is up to the mods (do they not wish the site to be a forum for vital, strong opinions? Without such, the content here can be nothing but pablum).

Delving into detail and minutaie without relating it in full to the original topic, indeed, sailing far away from the original topic, makes it off topic. Please, feel free to start a thread relating to racism in the appropriate area.

We have a politics thread for topics like what this one has turned into. If this one doesn't get back on topic, everyone who wants to discuss this topic racially will have to do that in the politics forum.

YMY POINT RACE DIDN"T PLAY A ROLE. WHY DO PEOPLE BRING IT UP CONCERNING THIS?

Because some people disagree with your point and are not willing to trim their discussions to only those topics that you find acceptable?

I'm sorry but this is obvious politics board material you've posted 5000 words on. Obvious.

Dude, LE partied down in Ames. I could tell you stories about him at W.A.S. No one cared until it was stirred up into some horrible issue, by some jerk who was mad that Eustachy had touched his (entirely willing) sister.

I think football will be fine. I hope the best for McD. I think JP legacy will tarnished more by a bad basketball team then football. Since people still consider us more of a basketball school.

I would consider Pollard's actions to be assertive and decisive rather than "heavy handed". And frankly, I'm not concerned about the basketball team's future, either.

Let's all calm down a bit on this one, and try to get the topic back on track.

Above is your mod intervention. Dudes, it's Friday night, just let it go--or take it to the appropriate forum. Please.

Do you claim to be the "decider"? It does not seem off topic to me. But, then, like you, I am not the decider here.

However, to the relief of some here no doubt, my schedule requires that I retire from the forum for the day.

No, this is the decider. vvv I was just explaining what was obvious to all of us.

You misspeak. It was not obvious to all of us, unless you wish to deny me consideration as a human being.

I'm so new here I do not know who all the mods are (are they identifiable in some way? I haven't noticed).

I'm not fond of people who would deny to others what they claim for themselves -- an opinion and a way to express that opinion. I think I should retire from this site, apparently a move that would satisfy many who wish to protect their own prerogatives to the detriment of the prerogatives of others.

The red Moderator stamp under their name.

You are correct. I misspoke. I meant to write "what is obvious to the rest of us."

I haven't been here that long, either, but I thought the red tag that read "moderator" was fairly obvious.

Oh, don't be melodramatic. You have all the place to express yourself that you wish--in the proper forum and thread. Generally I enjoy your well written posts, but today I'm wondering if you started your F.A.C. a little early. You are being both obstinate and reactionary, both symptoms of someone who has imbibed a bit too much of Augie Busch's products.

Now then, does anyone else think that Pollard has simply been assertive and decisive?

I don't drink.

And please, don't patronize me. Claiming that I'm being melodramatic when I state that I'm serious about what I say is insulting.

If you wish to get personal, so be it. I'll not return the favor, other than to say it is of no consequence to me that you approve of the things I say when you agree with those things and offer insulting words when you disagree with things I say.
