Ryan Boyle

Bro your username is RoseBowlBound.

This I know. I also don't think Iowa is bound for any sort of Rose Bowl any time soon. Its more of inspiration I guess. The equal could be 8winsbound for an Iowa State Fan.

And since I know this site, Yes our basketball team is mediocre and they made it to a play in game last year. There, the Joke is made for you.

Mangino sat with his at bball game. The following week, he committed to Iowa.

Because Iowa offered and we did not (not saying he wouldn't have anyway, who knows). He tried out for the QB Scholly and we opted for Deliro. FaCT is it is a small class this year and we need defensive bodies more.

What a ****ing loser. Join a thread w/ a legitimate question just to dis ISU.

Whoa I started the thread and an hour later it's on page 2 already. Impressive.

I know ISU showed some interest in him. I don't understand why they didn't extend an offer. Someone suggested that he made it clear he was going to Iowa so like I said if that is the case then it makes perfect sense. Otherwise I'm bewildered by it after watching him play. Clearly he can find a position somewhere even if QB doesn't work out. In Iowa, it isn't often a kid with his athleticism grows up right in your backyard. When it does I would think you'd do everything you can to try to take advantage of it (like they did with Lazard). Not even offering isn't doing everything you can.

If he was good enough ISU would have offered. Obviously they weren't as high on him as you are

I was impressed with him in the Waukee game. Good speed, made quick decisions, better arm than I expected. I think he's to small to be a D1 QB, but what do I know? His site says he's 6'2, but he looked really small out there to me. I would have guessed 5'11.

I hope he does well at Iowa. I always enjoy seeing Iowa kids do well.

Boyle is as good as Lazard? I did not know that.

Lol where on earth did I say Boyle is as good as Lazard? Seems like stretching people's words is becoming a theme around here.

Adam, I agree with you. He did seem kinda small to me as well. There have been guys his size make it as a QB, but it isn't very common. I really don't know where he'll end up. Awhile ago I thought for sure he'd be a safety, but after seeing him play I'm not so sure he won't stay at QB. His QB skills impressed me more than I thought they would. He throws a nice ball. That post pass he threw against Waukee for a TD comes to mind. He hit the receiver in stride and had some mustard on the ball.

With his quickness I could also see him being moved to a slot receiver position. I don't know what kind of hands he has, but he could develop into an impact player there as well.

Beneventi is the other QB Iowa signed in this class and he has had a subpar senior season. I'm hoping Iowa keeps Boyle at QB because his athleticism would be fun to watch.

According to rivals he is the 8th ranked recruit in the state. He only has offers from Iowa, Western Michigan, Illinois St. and Montana State. He's a good player, but it's very likely Iowa State and the rest of the Big 12 didn't think he was a legitimate talent for big time football.

As someone who played against him in high school as a defensive back, he was tough to prepare for. However, he had a lot of offensive weapons to throw to. Matt Haack (Punter for ASU, but could've played WR at the D1 level) and Jon Wisniski (SP?)(TE for Iowa) made it tough to prepare for that offense.

I can't imagine why any decent QB would want to go to Iowa. Most boring offense in the history of the world. Also if you're the better qb, frentzes will probably start the worse qb and you'll get benched.

Adam, if a Hawk starts a thread on their own recruit on a Cyclone site recruit, you bash, bash, and bash some more.

I edited your quote below for something that would've been more acceptable

He was mediocre in the Waukee game. Alright speed, made quick decisions but his coach probably told him what he had to do, not much of a passer. Just runs around like a goof and throws it up. I think he's to small to be a D1 QB, but what do I know? His site says he's 6'2, but he looked really small out there to me. I would have guessed 5'11. So therefore, he must be a compulsive liar and supports Hitler.

I hope he enjoys his moped at Iowa. I always enjoy seeing Iowa kids represent the state with their knowledge of moped requirements set forth by the DOT

I don't know but this thread has made me super jealous of Iowa football. I would do anything...literally anything to get this Brian Doyle character into an ISU uniform.

I'm not questioning why he isn't a nationally known recruit. This is Iowa high school football after all. It wouldn't even make sense for half the teams in the B12 to look at him because they can do as well or better elsewhere.

With that said, not all of the other big 12 schools had Boyle grow up right by them. Iowa State did. He's accomplished everything that can be accomplished at the highest level of football in Iowa and he's done it right on the Cyclones radar. For a team who can't afford to miss on talent I'm simply saying I think he would have been worthy of being offered a scholarship. AND had he accepted an offer from ISU a bunch of Cyclone fans would have been very excited about him right about now. He's been impressive to watch.

Shoot look at guys like Julian Edelman or Danny Woodhead. Edelman was a 2 star recruit with reported 4.5 speed and he ends up playing QB at Kent State. Everyone knows about Danny Woodhead. Boyle sort of fits into that mold for me. He's an under-recruited kid who seems to have a lot of potential. Who knows where he'll end up, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him make an impact.
