Season sweep of KU
Big 12 regular season and conf tourney champs
Any of the Cyclones (preferably Tsalmpouris, but whoever) posterizing Woodbury.

The Dance is too hard to predict.

Looking at ticket prices, it's clear who we as a fan base put the most emphasis on.
KU in my opinion is our measuring stick. Dethroning KU would make me beyond ecstatic. I will be satisfied if we can beat KU and dethrone their conference title run, and also beat Iowa at carver. Tournament play Big12 and ncaa are so unpredictable when there is so many one possession games where a charge call/foot injury can be the deciding factor. However if we can build on last years momentum and at least somewhat live up to the billing of this team I will be satisfied. I feel very spoiled as a fan right now!! Can we just play already???

Would LOVE to finally de-throne KU and end their streak. Tired of hearing about it. Of course that would mean a "down" year in the Big XII by definition per all the pundits.

Like others have said, at least a top 4 finish in the conference but would probably be a bit let down if not at least a 3rd place tie. Would depend on how the season is trending. Starting conference strong and losing steam (like OSU last year) would not be fun. Starting slow and peaking at the tourney would feel completely better.

As far as the dance, a loss in the first REAL round to a very low seeded team would be frustrating after all the build up. A loss in the round of 32 would be less disappointing but I'd still feel we underachieved. Getting to Sweet 16 and matching last year's level would be fine. That being said, I voted for Elite 8, which would be pretty fantastic as that matches the best ISU post season performance since the 40's. Count me in!

12-6 or better in Big 12 play, a 5 or better seed, and at least one tournament win. And a top 40 defense - it's been nine years since ISU has had one.

Some people are EXPECTING us to go to the Final 4? Really?

CF is going to be a train wreck after the first loss...

As soon as we lose to a team we are suppose (Any team we play in the minds of most) to beat there will be an uprising and welch will have a pretty good bar turnout to drown the loss.

I think the ceiling is immeasurable for this group and their confidence could be one of the strengths that propels the mental psyche of this team into success. However that being said, the expectation and ceiling for some fans is equivalent in a lot of minds which is an unfair measuring stick of success.

Yes obviously we would love a final 4 banner in Ames. But to say that's what you're expecting of this team
Is absurd. The NCAA tournament bar none is the greatest sporting event to determine a champion because it is the least predictable and it is a measuring stick of who is playing the best and who can play championship level badketball against 6 different teams wjth different schemes etc. A final 4 is definitely obtainable and within reach but let's not put that pressure on this team quite yet. A lot of question marks yet this year, hopefully positive answers, hopefully really positive answers. Go clones.

Come on. We all want Monte to posterize Woodbury.

On a side note, can Morris even dunk? I think I've seen every other current (scholarship) Cyclone dunk, but not Monte.

I said Elite Eight just because I think this team is slightly better than last year's and Elite Eight would be our next step, NCAA Tourney-wise. Abdelmassih talked about how strong we are offensively already. I think Nader, Dejean-Jones and McKay will be HUGE. It's gonna be hard to keep one of them on the bench to start the game if Hogue still starts. We've got a lot of weapons.

We're better than Kansas this year. I don't think we're one of the top few teams, but I'd say we're somewhere between 5th-10th in the nation.

I don't know if you are referring to a particular post, but the question is what you would be satisfied with, not what you are expecting.

Can we just stop with this already? Barring a monumental step back in performance, Hogue is starting for this team this year. Period.

Hogue will start, you're right. I didn't phrase that as well as I should have. I just meant that it will be interesting to see who doesn't start- I would assume Nader won't start once McKay becomes eligible.

Morris
BDJ
Nader
Hogue
Niang

Once McKay is eligible:
Morris
BDJ
Hogue
Niang
McKay

I personally don't think Nader will start even before McKay. No reasoning why, just a gut feeling. I think Naz will be the favorite with Thomas and Nader fighting for it.

Obliterate KU.
Win the B12 again.
Final Four.

I gotta feeling....
I don't think we'll lose a single home game. Hopefully we can sweep KU (maybe end up 3-0 against them?) and win the Big 12 regular season title.

Naz will start right away with both of those guys out, so it wouldn't surprise me if he just remained a starter simply because we'll only have like 8 games between Nader/Thomas coming back and McKay becoming eligible. It'll be interesting to see how Hoiberg manages that. Thomas started some games last year, so that wouldn't be a total shocker either. If Naz posts a 1-13 shooting game or something along those lines, ESPECIALLY if that happens in one of the first two games, that's when I think we'll see Nader/Thomas start in his place.
