Malik Dime---Indian Hills (reported UW commit)

Your expertise on absolutely everything and your gift in relaying that expertise to us mere mortals is humbling. Please never stop.
Do you see Tsalmpouris being a serious contributor this year or next? If he IS then who is he taking minutes from? Counting minutes is simple math.

who cares what I think? You are obviously the only one around here with any knowledge of iowa state. It is amazing how you manage to be an expert on everything on here.

I can't imagine how much you know about kansas. Bill self must call you up often.

I've agreed with everything Tuco has said regarding Tsalbo.

He may get a few meaningful spot minutes during foul trouble in his first couple of years, but any thing passed that I just don't see. Our talent level is just going to keep getting higher and higher.

I said it when he signed, but he is a huge project. If he sees any significant time in his college career I will be surprised. He's a D1 athlete, but a contributor on ehat is likely a top 10 team going into next year I don't see.

Are you serious or just mocking the troll?

I know some people who have a different opinion who are better versed in his abilities than tuco. As for me, I'll just watch and let players develop at their own, differing paces. Some will disappoint and some will surprise but I know one thing, we just don't know.

I've seen a ton of ISU fans say the same thing about Tsalmpouris that I am but it's suddenly ridiculous coming from me. Feel free to contribute to the conversation with why you think Tsalmpouris will be part of the rotation his first two years.

you have a slightly better basis for your opinion than tuco. He knows next to nothing about a reserve iowa state player and it is annoying when he passes himself off as an expert. He's not

feel free to tell us why you know he won't be.

So you're saying Tsalmpouris is part of the rotation next year? ISU had 7 guys that played 5+ minutes last year (in the rotation) and the other 5 guys all played less than three mpg (AKA not in the rotation). You think Tsalmpouris is one of the 7/8 that play next year or one of the 4/5 that don't? If he is part of the rotation then someone else ISN'T, because not everyone can be. Who gets LESS with Tsalmpouris getting more? Make your case.

Niang, Morris, Hogue, Nader, McKay, BDJ, Long, Thomas. That's eight. Who comes out of the rotation if Tsalmpouris is in? The game still only has 200 minutes in it. Look, I am not knocking him as a player, just saying that I think ISU has at least eight players that are better than him right now.

Again, IT'S CALLED AN OPINION. No one is passing themselves off as an expert here. Like I said, feel free to participate in the conversation instead of simply whining about me personally.

There were rumors going around, from CW IIRC, that Giorgos will see minutes while McKay is out. He'll get his chance to earn a regular spot.
Everyone on the roster will see "some minutes" especially with McKay out. But the whole point of this is that I doubt very highly that having Tsalmpouris on the roster kept Dime from coming to ISU. My gut tells me that I doubt very highly that Dime looked at Tsalmpouris as a hurdle to clear in getting minutes. Again, not that Tsalmpouris is a bad player, just that Dime is probably more ready to contribute right now than Tsalmpouris is.

Probable rotation in 2014-2015 --

Points - Morris, Custer
Wings - BDJ, Long, Nader, Thomas
Posts - Hogue, Niang, McKay, Tsampolouris

Morris/BDJ/Hogue/Niang/McKay to start come conference season

Without any roster additions, same deal in 2015-2016 --

Points - Morris, Custer
Wings - Long, Nader, Thomas
Posts - Niang, McKay, Tsampolouris

Morris/Long/Nader/Niang/McKay to start, to guess
I guess you could start Thomas as an off guard to keep Naz as the energy/sixth man and bench scorer that he seems to embrace

That second team is already really good and is only going to be better after another year, particularly to season the "depth" guys in the incoming freshmen. Anything we add at this point is just going to be a bonus/gravy to a roster than is already setup to keep it rolling.

Any transfers or JUCOs is just going to make that all the more deadly.

Here is something I do not understand about Dime's choice. Many seem to be indicating that he probably went to Washington because of available playing time versus what he could have expected at ISU.

Washington has 3 forwards and 2 centers on their current roster. They will lose one of the forwards next year, so that will leave 4 post players. Then their 2015 recruiting class now includes 3 power forwards (including Dime) and one small forward. One of the other power forwards besides Dime is a 4 star recruit and is #53 overall ranked player by ESPN. That will give them a total of 8 post players next year. At present, ISU has 5 forwards and 1 center on their roster (depending on how you classify them) and will lose at least 2 of those by next season. I say at least 2 because (if they live up to the hype) there is the possibility that McKay and Niang could both try the NBA draft in 2015. ISU's class of 2015 now includes one forward. If Dime had committed to ISU, the Cyclones would have had a total of only 6 post players next season.....so how does going to Washington give him a better shot at playing time? I guess I just don't see how that could be a reason.

Except that you know we will be a/the top destination for whatever transfers we need/want. I have felt for a long time that the idea of getting recruited over in the form of experienced transfers may hurt our HS recruiting. This would likely not include top-level recruits (Diallo), but I would guess opposing coaches may be in the ear of high school and some juco recruits. Obviously, not complaining. It is a great strategy for us.

I don't know about Giorgos specifically but I'm sure the depth played it's part in his decision.

He will be transfer material in the future.

Looking to have more players participate on the court this year. Even Kourtlin Jackson can ball. Faster pace.

Fred usually lets new players do their thing in non conference and he gradually corrects them. Lots of fugly play at start of season normally. If they do not man up by end of Dec, they watch from the bench as he has other players.
