MBB Preseason Rankings

Crazy where our program has come. 5 years ago all of us would be dying for this kind of publicity. Lost two all big 12 players and were in everyone's top 25. Love it

I think 18 is way too low.

On the low side, but not unreasonable. I could see Iowa State as low as 5 seed or as high as a 2 seed. Non-conference schedule will not help matters much in that regard (unless we go unbeaten again, which seems statistically unlikely). But the higher Cyclones can finish in Big 12, the better, that could swing the balance in a major way.

I'd put ISU at No. 13 to 16 range.

We have a lot of ground to make up from only going 11-7 last year in the Big 12. If we can get 13-14 wins, should make up for a less than stellar non-conf slate.

It would be nice to have winning conference road record this year. That would certainly help. It is doubtful ISU can win the league without one.

Anyone else see this little quote from Georges- me no likey.

You guys will add a couple more transfers this year in Bryce Dejean-Jones (UNLV) and Abdel Nader (Northern Illinois) in addition to junior college transfer Jameel McKay. How different will this team be?

We’ll buckle down better defensively, but with Fred, you’ll always expect a team that will compete every night. I think we’ll have more overall talent this year than in my first two years, but the key is putting it all together. We don’t have the chemistry yet — and that can make or break a season.

Doesn't bother me at all. Practice hasn't even started yet.

Yup, 18 is not too low at all, and certainly not way too low. It's easy for people to forget that just because the program is humming right now, it doesn't mean that there aren't other very good teams out there.

We'll be ranked coming into the season, I think, for the first time since 2000 and likely at our highest spot ever in such a poll. REJOICE.

Of course the chemistry isn't there yet. Lots of new faces and we haven't played a game yet. Last year's team was one of the most cohesive I've EVER seen.
