West Virginia not only had 108 plays but ran 43 more plays than Maryland.

In addition to just being difficult to defend, I believe Edsall is trying to stave off recruiting advantages WVU has over Maryland when it comes to attracting players on offense.

Others, like the SEC when Mizzou & aTm joined, are finding out just how explosive Big 12 offenses are.

Whe-hell....he'll fit riiight in in the big 10.

*edit: Just for clarification...he'll fit in both for the losing, and for the whining about getting away from 'traditional' football.

What's not good for college football is the garbage defense teams like Maryland play. Really coach? 108 plays are too many? How bout playing defense and forcing a punt?

Who in the Big Ten has complained about tempo?

Maybe you should develop some depth, and be a bit more liberal with your substitutions, Randy.

grunt, snort....back in my day, we didn't have all this passing, and the hand signals, and the substitutin'...and no comin' off the field just 'cuz your helmet come off, neither....

They may be right if he is speaking about continual blows to the head. Idk if that is what he is speaking to however. The lineman get hit every play. 108 plays is quite a few. IDK if I agree that its 'bad' for the game, but its a concern they should probably look in to.

Even if they averaged 110 plays per game, which they won't, players take far more hits in practice. I'd guess he's not willing to reduce contact in practices. He just doesn't want to have to adapt to the new style of football.
