My roommate is listening to the hawks podcast. They are comparing each schedule as if they switched. Miller just said ISU only beats one big 10 team, and I think they both said Hawks beat Oklahoma and Deace just said Iowa would beat baylor. I wish I could have some of what they are drinking. Damn

Re: How drunk are Steve Deace are Jon Miller

Seasons where ISU has low expectations and Iowa has high ones can make for some interesting years. Hopefully this is one

Re: How drunk are Steve Deace are Jon Miller

Not sure what this has to do with the topic, but found it interesting. As bad as Iowa State's offense was under Messingham the last two years, Iowa State averaged more yards per game than Iowa in those two years. The Hawks must have some new play-makers... or their defense is going to be lights out after losing 3 line-backers, if they are going to contend for the B1G.

Jon Miller would pick the Hawkeyes against the San Francisco 49ers. He has little sense of reality.

Rumor has it they may be losing Reggie Spearman due to family issues, was going to start at linebacker. They lost their starting fullback for the year and their all-world receiver (that did nothing last season) Powell, out at least until Big 10 play. Sounds like several other injuries too. They are still two weeks away from them taking a snap and getting beat by UNI.

So stupid... Two totally different built teams taylored to the way each conference plays. Iowa can't smash mouth in a run and gun conference- just like isu can't run and gun in a smash mouth conference.

Not to mention they lost a TE, who was a 3rd round NFL draft pick. Listen, I like their OL and they should have a nice power run game, but at some point, they will have to score points through the air, even in the B1G...and not sure they can do that.

Losing Spearman would be a blow

Make sure to re-visit them after Iowa losses to UNI.

I would love to see them track the number of penalties and penalty yards after the game to show why the game wasn't officiated correctly if they're not equal.

Re: How drunk are Steve Deace are Jon Miller

Which games did they think Iowa would lose? Baylor hasn't been the same away from Waco and KSU is early in the season which may help. But along similar lines, you really can't count out a team like Toledo beating Iowa. I think Iowa would only be favored in 7 games max. The Prediction Machine doesn't even have them favored in the Maryland game this year.

Only team I know that can replace all three linebackers in one season is Alabama and Iowa sure is not Alabama. So as of today, from last season, they have lost two offensive line starters, a tight end, one their best receivers is out for at least 4 games, all three starting linebackers, possibly their middle linebacker who was projected to start, lost a starting corner and safety from last season, return a true sophmore at the other corner spot and Lowdermilk who was burned countless times last season. Not to mention a kicking game they may be worse than ours!
