Release: SCHEMATIC DESIGNS FOR SOUTH END ZONE PROJECT RELEASED

Anyone else concerned about the new sez videoboard being able to hold up to the wind. All those people underneath. I think this is tragic planning in the making. Then what will stop the wind from taking out the nez scoreboard.

No. Structural engineers know their stuff and there's a factor of safety involved. It will be overdesigned.

Crushed by press box, impaled by a flag, paper cuts from the game day programs..what sort of sick stunt is our athletic department trying to pull? I'm emailing Pollard.
Please, don't embarrass yourself. What else did you think that they meant by "renderings"?

And they say this is an ag school....sheesh!

Sorry if posted elsewhere.

Proposed bid opening dates for next three bid packages as of 6/30/14:

7/29/2014; 9/30/2014; and 11/11/2014.

Bid packages not yet available. It looks like the bid packages are released at least 21 days before the bid opening date for so-called major projects.

Next set of bid package is now available. 134 pages of details. Some interior specs of the club space also. From Facilities Planning and Management. Don't know how to link to the plans. Sorry. Looks like this phase is just over $845,000. Bid opening on 7/22.

Second set of bid opening is 7/29 with an estimated cost of over $15,000,000.

Just curious--does anyone know if they will be placing footings, to perhaps eventually add a second deck above the SEZ Club?

I'd think the footings would be strong enough to support any future additions. Once you have dug down there to place footings and utilities expanding them has as negligible cost.

Neumann of Des Moines was awarded the biggest chunk (so far) of the SEZ today. Its bid was $9,058,000 vs. the engineer's estimate of $9,484,876. Four bids have been accepted for various parts of the project at a cost of $10,601,000 vs. the engineer's estimate of $11,093,876.

Two additional bids have not yet been accepted. The low bids came in at $4,654,997 vs. the engineer's estimate of $5,316,946. Assuming these two are accepted, the project will be over $1,100,000 under estimate.

Two items thus far received no bids. One from last month is being rebidded in August. The second item was in this current bunch of items. Not sure why there was no bid submitted.

Also, the ribbon board and SEZ video board is not going out for bid. The Board of Regents approved the recommendation that Daktronics be the supplier and this part of the project will be negotiated between ISU and Daktronics. I believe I read somewhere ISU would wait to see how the bidding of the project was going before making any commitment regarding Daktronics.

Has any significant construction started yet? If so, is there a construction cam up?
