This Team's Expectations

WTF? I thought Bubu coming back would fill this role

Let's first get back to the dance......then get past the first weekend again, then we'll see where we are. Hoops involves a lot of luck as well (aka Georges injury last year)

My expectations are to make the NCAA tournament again and then see what happens. As we know, the tournament involves luck, draw, how you are playing at the moment, injuries, etc.

Reading the post more closely, that's gotta be a troll right? Doesn't even mention any of the incoming transfers as guys who will make a difference and says that there's no excuse not to win theBig 12.

Because you would have to actually follow ISU basketball to know about BDJ, Nader, and McKay. They don't show up on Rivals recruiting page. 110% troll.

We should think 'Why not Iowa State?', but let's be careful not to become Hawkeye like. Let's see how we are doing in February before we start talking Final Four.

I don't have expectations for a team, ever. I learned that lesson the hard way in 2000-2001.

I think you'll find it much more enjoyable to just watch the games and appreciate the two hours of entertainment. And if there's a few more games to play after the season is over...bonus.

I have people on here questioning why I didn't mention the incoming transfers. While I have heard good things about them, I am not going to pretend (like most people on here) I know a lot about these players without watching any film on them. I actually think people on here just blindly assume these transfers are going to fill in just because we have had recent success with these guys.

My advice to these fans, just stick with what you know, then people will respect you for you for your knowledge.

There are hours of highlight film on BDJ

Final four or bust for me. We return a healthy Georges, Naz, Hogue on the glass, Matty Buckets, and MM. The bench bigs will also be very deep with Edozie's experience and leadership as well as the big time 7 footer we brought in from Greece. Also from what I've heard about Clay Custer, he is the next Kirk Hinrich and John Havlicek. Plus Gibson was sub-par in my opinion, so not a big loss.

So with Georges as a Big 12 player of the year candidate, the cold blooded killer in the clutch (Naz), and Clay's playmaking ability replacing Kane. Unless hit with a freak injury like last postseason, there is no excuse we don't win the Big 12 and at least advance to the final 4. Is it winter yet?

Blindly is a pretty strong word.
We have plenty of video and a strong coaching track record to look at. That's not blindly assuming, but carry on.

OP, a word of advice.

Definitely nothing wrong with being optimistic with you predictions, but you lose a lot of credibility when you say things like "Final Four or bust." It makes it sound like you would be genuinely upset with the team if we don't make the Final Four, which is obsurd and would indeed make you a horrible fan.

Says the poster who described the new Greek kid as big time (based on what, the 3 minutes of youtube vids?) and called on Clayton Custer to replace Kane's playmaking (based on what he did playing HS hoops in Kansas?). And I guess you have also dubbed Thomas as Matty Buckets, I'm assuming this is based on the fact that the kid was ripped on this board all season for not living up to expectations as a shooter.

But sure, we don't know squat about these transfers, other than stats and video of them actually playing college hoops.

1. BodeClone, how long have you been a cyclone fan?

2. do you realize we aren't even on the same level as KU, Duke, UK, MSU and Others? Not even close! (Duke lost to MERCER, anything can happen)

3. Melvin Ejim was a HUGE reason for our success last year.

4. The TRANSFER was the second biggest reason.

5. I would be satisfied with an Elite Eight, anything more is a stretch.

6. MattyBuckets?

7. I love a fan being optimistic, but don't get your feelings hurt when it doesn't happen.
