I don't know the exact numbers for how many of each star there are but:
5 star - 17 of 30ish (57%)
4 star - 23 of 200ish (12%)
3 star - 33 of 1000ish (3%)
2 star - 27 of everyone else (<1%)

Interesting. A little misleading, though. For example, for 2014, Rivals has given 33 players a 5-star rating. If 17 of those end up getting drafted in the top 100, that's over 50%. If you look at it from a percentage standpoint, I'm betting it goes right in order with the highest percentage drafted being 5-star, then 4, 3, 2, etc. There are just so many more 2 and 3 stars than 5 stars.

I agree - The number that surprised me most was 4 stars, I would have thought more than 10-15% would be in there. You can understand the 2-3 star kids that get overlooked or develop later but I would have thought more 4-stars than 3-stars would make that list even given the number disparity.

This is the only useful way to look at that data.
We all know not every 5-star prospect is going to pan out, and we know that some lower-rated prospects will turn out to be better than thought. But seeing a percentage can help reveal how often certain star ratings typically work out.

So, basically, the odds of a 2 star talent actually being an NFL player are astronomically low, but we'll fight hard to convince ourselves that it's the road to great success.

As has been pointed out this is a little misleading. Also I think a better evaluation of this is how many of those are starters 3 years into their professional career. This will tell us who sticks, just cause a guy is drafted doesn't mean he is worth a **** at the NFL level. I know what you are getting at, but nothing to get to excited about.
