MLB: Kolten Wong

Re: Kolton Wong

Cardinals option Kolten Wong to Triple-A

Cardinals optioned INF Kolten Wong to Triple-A Memphis.

Wong was handed the team's starting job at second base out of spring training, but floundered by hitting just .225/.276/.268 with five RBI in his first 20 games. He'll look to get back on track in the minor leagues before rejoining the Cardinals later in the season.

I watched the game yesterday, and they said they would do this so he can play everyday. Right now, he isnt, and it is hurting his development.

Why is this bad? Wong still has minor league options left and he is obviously struggling. This will give him a chance to fix his swing.

I like the move. It isn't like he's done anything to help the team now. Let him go down to Memphis and fix his issues. He'll be back.

Just frustates me that we send a talent like Wong back down and we watch Kozma and Descalso both play 123+ games last year batting .217 and .238 respectively.

I am more mad about the Peralta signing than this. Wong will be back and I agree be our 2nd baseman for a long time. The whole team in general has blown this season with the bats, it won't last forever.

Peralta misses his PEDs.

I think this is a mistake. I feel that Wong will be the starting 2B in STL for many years to come.

Disagree with first sentence. Plenty of people go to minors to correct swing, his career with STL isn't even close to over. Completely agree on second sentence.

Now how do they fix Allen Craig?

he seems to be fixing things himself tonight.

2 for 3. 1 HR so far.

Yep, he sucks pond water. And yes I know he hit 2 bombs yesterday. Still hate the signing.

He doesn't suck, he is a decent major league player but I agree with the signing hate. I also completely understand anyone who is turned off to him by his PED use in the past. I'm OKAY with Mozeliak making him a Cardinal, but not for the amount of $$$ they shelled out for him. How the hell is he supposedly worth more than Matt Carpenter? Sure he can hit the long ball, but come on. I know the MLB isn't fair when it comes to avg or performance based contracts...but he's still an unnecessary waste of money IMO.

Peralta's contract is still behind Holliday, Wainwright, and Molinas, but I wouldn't have signed him for even HALF of what any of those guys make. STL needs some more power behind the plate, but there are much better options out there. I'd love to see Cards shop for another power bat, because Peralta hitting some HRs is not going to make up for his mediocre avg and other mediocre stats/abilities.
