Nader arrested for OWI?

High risk if he had any type of related incident at his former school. If he already came in with 1 strike on his record, I would consider that to be at risk.

Substance abuse counseling? Sure. But that still means sitting out for a year in most cases (see Casey Pachall, TCU)

People who say Nader should be kicked off the team are being ridiculous. One mistake, although it is a major one, is not grounds for dismissal. Let's let the legal process carry out before a decision is made. He could end up getting it deferred and it may not even show up on his record. Kicking him off the team today would be a mistake itself.

Per nius sbnation site, the charge was for drinking under age at northern. Said nothing about driving. Too lazy to post link but if I found it, it shouldn't be too hard to find.

I refuse to count something that 90% of college-aged people do, underaged consumption, against somebody. That's akin to saying if Monte Morris were to transfer from ISU right now that he'd be a high risk transfer because of his citation for being in a bar underaged. Nader was in no way a high risk transfer.

wow he's wasted making a face like that.

Have you seen him in person? He has a big chin that sticks out. And he makes funny faces while he plays. Its not like they care when they are taking mugshots.

And I think we should control our judgments about him endangering people until we know his blood alcohol level. I'm hardly an advocate for driving with any level of drinking, but there are folks who are able to drive on .08.

We will learn much more when we hear the fuller police report. Until then, I wish we would stick to the facts we do know, unfortunate as they are. His team penalty should match what he did wrong. .08 is different than .2. If BDJ was with him, that is worse. But for now, we don't know these things.

What we do know is that he has already been here for a year and seems like a pretty good young man. I would take my cues from the other players. When they start talking about it, we will know how serious it was.

Underage drinking, no. I thought the citation was for drinking AND driving? If not, I digress from my stance on this issue.

Almost certain BDJ was out with Georges last night, but not 100% sure.

All that has been reported was by someone on CF who saw them with Hoiberg at Hickory Park.

Also, BJD's father is with him on the visit, so that may have kept him from cruising with Nader at 2am.

So if a lot of people do something, it becomes okay? That's some dangerous logic.

How dumb are you to drive in campustown, drunk, on the Saturday of what was Veisha? The drunk driving charge is horrible and he should be suspended for multiple games. And he should also be suspended for multiple games for even driving on that night, drunk or not. Any other players who considered driving that night should also be suspended a game just for considering it. Driving in Ames that night of all nights is so idiotic I cannot even portray that idiocy with words.

Glad you could get that off your chest.

If he's found not guilty, the school will probably step in with that top secret info they have about him, and kick him off. If he's guilty, expect a slap on the wrist- 3-4 game suspension

I agree.

Same with Irving too. If I was in Irving's shoes that night, when I saw a riot break out and cops show up, I'm running as fast as I can out of there, especially since I'm already on thin ice.

But no, he jumps into the fray and proudly carries a street sign down the street in the middle of a riot with everyone holding a smartphone and filming the entire thing. That is just an unbelievable amount of stupidity right there.

And Nader, even putting himself in that situation is just stupid too. The place is crawling with police, especially after what went down earlier in the week. Just idiotic. And people standing up for them on here aren't much better. If you don't realize how stupid these two were, then I feel for you.

Its posts like this that make me come back to CF.

Maybe Nader was the least drunk of all the people he was hanging out with? Maybe he's too responsible and that's what ended up getting him in trouble.

Yeah! Or maybe his car was parked in front of a fire hydrant, and there was a fire, so he quick went to move his car and didn't think the red light was important given the situation?

That doesn't make it okay. They should have been smart enough to have a designated driver.
