Bubu

Honest question....how much is Bubu's legal bill when this is said and done ? My goodness, think of all the billable hours.

Sad part is that the way this all worked out may have been about just this here...assuming that playing the gamble of "make it disappear" for ISU...even if it wasn't right, but expedient...assuming that the only way to fight it would be to sue and rack up legal bills.

Again, I can see both sides, but it's unfortunate that yeah, it may have been a bit of "make it go away...what is he gonna sue?"

IMO, JP and Leath both screwed this thing up beyond belief. And I was happy that Bubu called them out on it and won.

JP and Leath's problem is that they aren't consistent. I have no problem whatsoever if they felt Bubu had indeed broken the student code of conduct. Fine. However, there were several guys on the football team last year that were playing that had also violated the student code of conduct as well, according to the definition set forth by JP and Leath.

That is where you can't say with a straight face that there wasn't something else going on here. Student athletes have done the same or worse than Bubu, and were allowed back on the team. I don't know for sure why JP and Leath treated Bubu different, but I think we've all heard rumblings. I think this girl had some VERY influential people with big pockets in her corner on this, and there was no way that JP and Leath felt they could risk ticking them off.

But the whole thing was handled very poorly and at times unprofessionally by JP and Leath. Bubu handled it much better than they did IMO. I wish Bubu well.

Good luck to him. Nobody except those directly involved will ever know exactly what happened and what he did or didn't do, so all we can do is wish him well and move ahead.

I know CF will miss him; for a walk-on reserve role player he sure has generated an inordinate number of threads and forum discussion.

Well said and you may be right on the money. The best thing JP and Leath can do now is help BuBu get another year elsewhere and hope it all goes away.

Good riddance bubu. What a story book ending if you end up playing under ***** again.

Glad bubu dragged this all out for this to happen. He may have not been guilty in court but he sure as hell made a bad decision that put himself in this mess, violated the student code, and forced leath and pollard to make a decision that I understand why they made it.

Sad that someone who is presumably college educated can be so hopelessly clueless.

How am I hopelessly clueless? Because I believe had he not made an error in judgement that night, none of this would have happened? Because he was found to have violated the student code by leath and I understand where he could have? Because I'm glad it's coming to a close?

lets not jump to such broad assumptions. It makes you look foolish. And the starred out part was not a cuss word it was mc dud. Just because McDermott left Isu doesn't mean I have to like the guy. He was dangerously close to putting the nail in the coffin of Isu basketball.

I am comfortable with the decision made regarding Bubu and can sleep better based on this decision.
Paraphrasing a direct quote from one of the 2 being raked over the coals here.

I agree that he made an error in judgment. I do not agree that he was wrong to "drag it all out", if indeed it was him prolonging this CF (military version, not fansite). Hooking up with the wrong girl (guy) is something that happens...probably nightly in a college town. While I agree that it would have been better all around if he had kept his pants zipped, that ship sailed long ago, and evidence (fabricated and/or non-existent) led judges and prosecutors to believe that it was nothing more than what likely half of the student population of ISU has done at some point. I don't believe that they should be pilloried for it any more than I think Bubu should have been.

The administration has made numerous mind-boggling steps to bury Bubu in this case, and I don't blame Bubu one bit for not rolling over and letting them do it. If you received a punishment you felt was unjust, would YOU just accept it, or would you fight it? That is what I mean when I say "clueless".

If I was found to have made an error in judgement that broke the student code in a decision made by judicial affairs or leath, I'd accept it and move on. But carry on saying I'm clueless. I just hold a different opinion. Deal with it.

Yup. You'd roll over. Sure you would.

That's fine and good for that person. But it doesn't make that person's decision the correct one.

I also don't blame the admin for making a decision they believe to be in the best interest of the university.
