Potential Transfers '14

I thought Naz was a fantastic finisher by the end of the year. Monte needs some serious work, though.

It's extremely untraditional, but should we get BJD and another big that can play right away, it would be nice to see Thomas and/or Custer redshirt.

While both would receive playing time, it wouldn't be as much as they would probably like, and it would be an extra year for them to improve. I mean, depth is nice, but we potentially have an 11 man deep rotation. That's unheard of.

80% of his shots for the year were 3 pointers. In the last 5 games Naz only took 4 2 point FG's.

Not gonna touch this with a ten foot pole.

11 deep, and an 11 man rotation can be different. It is good that we could go 11 deep and call on a guy like Edozie when needed (foul trouble against size, or injury), but we would not have an 11 man rotation. I doubt we would see more than 9 consistently play, and the 9th would likely be a low average (situational shooter role?)..

Which is why I would prefer those two redshirt. Though, this situation is all in my head. If it's how the team is now, no way in hell I want them redshirting. They're both talented. I just think their talent can be more utilized later on should we get a solid post and BJD.

Matt and Custer aren't going to redshirt next year barring injury. Those two will play regardless of who we add.

I know. I'm just saying in my ideal world. Both are extremely talented and will add to our program. I just don't think they will be utilized better 2 years from now then next year.

Also, I've still got NCAA March Madness on the brain, where as a coach at Iowa State, I would constantly get 3 5 stars in a class and redshirt them, and keep everyone for all 4 years.

I miss those days.

Isn't Nader already a bit of a slasher?

I had thought he'd be similar game to Ejim with better ball skills but less of a post presence.

Haven't seen too much of Nader, but I watched a chunk of this game in hopes of getting a feel for his game. Nader operates mainly on the perimeter - didn't see him posting up much. Seemed like more of a jump shooter who didn't really look to drive (warning, he was 4 of 17 in this game). He does seem comfortable handling the ball, and I'm sure his game has improved a lot in the last two years.

I didn't make it all the way through the game... both of these teams were bad.

From the videos of Nader I've seen, I'd say he's closer to Clyburn type of skill set, AN is more physically built than Will though so I'd expect him to post more often. Really looking forward to see CFH plans for him.

Don't redshirt BB players, keep the system flowing.

Exceptions do come up of course but the stashing/developing point of view is crazy.

The best part about Nader over Clyburn is we have him for two years and not one!

Here's a clip from last summer which is probably a better indicator of his current abilities. Looks fairly athletic with a decent outside shot, though he appears to drift a bit.

And, one from high school. Looks like he can slash a bit.

Nader = Joe Harris from UVA. Less shooting from outside, but more of inside game.

Per Jeff Goodman of ESPN, Ohio State will get the first visit for Virginia Tech 7-foot transfer Trevor Thompson on April 11-13. Likely to also visit Indiana & Purdue.
