new 'broken cy' tee

Haha, I like the shirt, but I'm surprised that would be an "official" ISU shirt. Singling out a player. Again, I like it, but surprised they are selling it.

And I mean even more so than with a certain # on a jersey.

I really don't like the thought of college athletes getting paid because I feel like it will hurt Iowa State, but it's these things that help change my mind. I think it's a clever t-shirt, but they're making money off of George's injury and he isn't getting a dime. It even has his number on it!

Initial reaction was, "Cool shirt" but unless Georges okayed it, it shouldn't have his number on it. Or at least have the proceeds go to a children's hospital or something worthy.

I'd rather have Cy walk into MSG on Friday sporting a cast with only a middle "feather" sticking out

LOL! I'd go a step further and put him in a bubble, one of those clear balls you walk around in. So those gangster thugs don't break his beak! Those jagoffs!

Unless Georges okayed it? NCAA rules do not permit any currently enrolled student-athlete’s name or likeness to be utilized in conjunction with the sale of a commercial product when the student-athlete in question has eligibility remaining.
Such use is classified by the NCAA as non-permissible promotional activity, and it can jeopardize the eligibility of the involved student-athlete.

The $90 "Not Jeremiah George but obviously Jeremiah George" jersey for sale on Cy's Locker Room says this must be ok.

The ball covers up part of the 3. Even though everyone knows it's a 3, it's not completely there and I'm guessing it would comply with NCAA rules.

I am just impressed with the good shirt designs out of ISU lately. For the longest time everything was plain and had no creativity to them at all. It's like the old ladies who controlled licencing finally moved on and they got some young blood in there that can help sell ISU apparel.

While I am really happy to see the huge improvement in shirt designs this year, I am really surprised ISU Compliance would allow something that seems somewhat close to skirting the rules. They are very, very conservative (in a good way) and I don't know that they've ever approved something that somebody would even take a second look at. If all is good though, glad to see the shirt - but I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled it before shipping.
