@adbrandt: Allen to receive $32M over four years, with $15.5M guaranteed, per @MikeGarafolo. Translation: contract is 2 years, $15.5 million.

I hate this signing so much. Couldn't pay urlacher more than 2 a year but can pay Allen 8.5.

A fantastic signing 5-8 years ago, but after the end play last year it's still an upgrade.

I still don't know how people are Viking fans. Like Jacksonville of the north

Loved JA as a Viking but don't think he has much left. Can't play the run really at all anymore and is only a bit above average at pass rushing now. He was on the field for an insane number of snaps last year to get his sack numbers. That's a lot of money for a one trick pony at this point in his career.

He was a great lockerroom guy though and I'd rather he went out of the division but it is what it is.

He was never coming back to Minnesota. Last year was rumored, all season, to be Allen's last year with the team. Like others have said, Allen of 4-5 years ago was one of the best defensive players in the league. he's just not anymore. He's just not an every down player anymore. He's very susceptible to screens, and other teams take advantage of that. That said, he still has value as a situational pass rusher, just not with Minnesota. I hope he has tons of success with Chicago. He's a great player.

Top ten winning percentage in the NFL if I remember right. Not even close to the Jags. Just bad luck in Super Bowls and NFL title games.

Getting rid of Peppers opened up the money for this, Peppers huge contract was just awful. Especially considering he brought nothing last year.

Replacing one awful signing with another isn't good business.

The team lost its soul when a mall was built where Allen Page caused mayhem and they moved indoors. The Bud Grant Vikings were a team to watch. An indoor, play on plastic Vikings team has as much interest to me as a Jags game.

The Super Bowl - Vikings free since 1976

This turned out to be a nice overhaul of the D line before the draft. The vikings seem to be working their way into the Nfc north basement. Too bad AP has to waste his career there, he'd be a nightmare on any team with a passing game.

And you are a bears fan?

If all years are even money and his guaranteed money is half his contract it will be 2 years $24 million or so actual price because he will get a salary on top of a signing bonus. It might be halfway inbetween though as that seems high. But I doubt they just guaranteed his salary the first two years and then guaranteed none the last two.
